The blockstor.org website, on Hugo and Docsy like cozystack.io.

  • site/: landing page, user docs (install, CSI, architecture with diagrams, resource examples, the blockstor CLI, migration from LINSTOR, compatibility) and a separate developer guide.
  • Production is GitHub Pages from main through .github/workflows/pages.yml. The custom domain is set in the repo settings; DNS records are pending with LF.
  • netlify.toml gives deploy previews on PRs. Previews and the test workflows skip changes that touch only site/** or netlify.toml.
  • docs/known-issues.md is gone, almost all of it was fixed long ago. The one open item, node interface modify --active having no effect, moved to docs/cli-parity-known-deltas.md.

Install docs work around two gaps for now: there is no Helm chart or release manifest, so they use the stand/ manifests with the images substituted, and the blockstor CLI and linstor-migrate are not published as binaries, so they use go install.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added a Blockstor website with a refreshed landing page, product overview, and developer resources.
    • Added comprehensive guides for getting started, installation, operations, troubleshooting, CLI usage, compatibility, migration, and more.
    • Added website deployment and preview support.
  • Documentation

    • Clarified CLI compatibility differences and updated references to known issues.
  • Chores

    • Updated CI workflows to skip website-only changes.

A single static page for blockstor.org, built from the README: what
blockstor is, why it is built as a Kubernetes control plane, what works
today and what does not, the release images and the documentation
links. Plain HTML and CSS with no build step, light and dark from the
system setting, and no analytics.

Pull requests get a Netlify preview of site/, the way cozystack.io
reviews its site, while production stays on GitHub Pages. The preview
is skipped when a pull request changes nothing under site/.

blockstor.org is served from GitHub Pages, as cozystack.io is. A push
to main that touches site/ publishes the directory as it is; there is
nothing to build.

A pull request or a push that only touches site/ or netlify.toml has
nothing for the unit, integration, contract, lint or e2e lanes to
test, and the e2e lanes are the expensive ones. The license check and
the release workflow are left as they are.

Give pages: write and id-token: write only to the deploy job.

The workflow-level permissions block also gives these write scopes to the build job. The build job runs only checkout and the artifact upload, and it does not need either scope. If a third-party action in build is compromised, it can mint an OIDC token or publish to Pages. Keep contents: read at the workflow level and grant the write scopes on deploy only.

The project documentation is going to live on blockstor.org, which
needs navigation, search and per-page editing that a hand-written page
does not give. The site now builds with Hugo and Docsy, the stack
cozystack.io runs, so both sites are maintained the same way.

Docsy is pulled as a Hugo module with its own go.mod under site/, which
keeps it out of the repository's Go module.

The animated figure of one ResourceDefinition reconciled into three
DRBD replicas was the one picture on the first landing page and got
lost in the move to Docsy. It is a shortcode now, drawn in light
strokes for the cover background, and still honours reduced motion.

Blockstor is meant to stand on its own, but it is developed within
Cozystack, and the landing page should say so. The section carries the
CNCF Sandbox line and logo the way cozystack.io does.

Chroma wrote its light palette inline, so the dark theme put light text
on a light block. Highlighting now emits classes, and Docsy's light and
dark chroma styles switch with the theme.

Almost every entry on it was fixed within hours of it being written,
and what remains is internal validation tracking, not something an
operator can run into.

The pages copied from docs/ were written for people working on the
code: they explained where things live in the tree and drove
everything through the upstream linstor client. The documentation
section is now organised around what an operator does: overview,
installation, CSI, resources with examples, the blockstor CLI, the
layer stack, migration from LINSTOR and the differences from LINSTOR.
The cover's Get started button points at the installation page.

The architecture page described the code's invariants. It now shows
how the components fit together, how a PVC becomes replicas on disk,
and how each satellite watches only its own node, as Mermaid diagrams
without references to the code. Mermaid is pinned so a new release
cannot change the rendering unreviewed.

Building, the test tiers, the repository layout, the internal
invariants with their code references, and the licensing rules now
have a section of their own, so the operator documentation does not
have to carry them.

Assisted-by: LLM

Almost every entry was fixed within hours of the page being written,
and the statuses were never updated. The one entry still open, the
NetInterface --active behaviour, is a deliberate difference from
LINSTOR and now lives in the parity deltas as row 86. References to
the page point there or say it is gone; the changelog keeps its
historical mention.

113-113: 🎯 Functional Correctness

No change is needed for this import.

Docsy v0.12.0 provides assets/scss/td/_code-dark.scss, which resolves the td/code-dark import. Docsy also imports _styles_project.scss at the end of main.scss, so this Sass import position is valid. The partial applies the light and dark Chroma palettes through the configured theme selectors, and highlight.noClasses: false enables those classes. No deprecation migration is established by the current source.

The documented multi-volume snapshot limitation is correct.

The converter preserves the captured volume references, but the ZFS provider addresses snapshots through volume 0 only. Only the first volume is reachable for restore and delete, and the converter reports this limitation. No documentation change is required for this claim.

| 42 | `r d <rd> <nonexistent-node>` (idempotent resource delete) | WIRE_SHAPE | permanent | BLOCKSTOR idempotent-delete envelope. Deleting a resource placement on a node that holds none returns `SUCCESS: resource already absent: <node> on <rd>`; upstream LINSTOR returns `WARNING: Node: <rd>, Resource: <node> not found`. Both exit 0. Deliberate: a CSI `DeleteVolume` / operator retry on an already-removed placement MUST be idempotent. Same family as the snapshot-delete idempotency in row 33. Pinned by the resource-delete REST handler's already-absent path (`pkg/rest/resources.go`). |
| 40 | `n c <node> <ip> --node-type Satellite` (node-create success envelope) | WIRE_SHAPE | permanent | BLOCKSTOR envelope shape on satellite node registration. BS emits `node created: <node>` + a `SUCCESS: No active connection to satellite '<node>'` line; upstream emits `New node '<node>' registered.` (with a UUID detail) + a `WARNING: No active connection to satellite '<node>'` line whose Details explain the controller will (re-)establish the connection. Both register the node and exit 0; the operator-visible outcome (node exists, awaiting satellite handshake) is identical. The "no active connection" notice is INFO/SUCCESS-class in BS vs WARNING-class upstream, and BS does not surface the volatile node UUID inline. Envelope-shape only; no behavioural divergence. |
| 16 | `ps l` (physical-storage list — `size` field) | WIRE_SHAPE | 2026-12-31 | BS `/v1/physical-storage` omits the per-device `size` key that python-linstor's `show_physical_storage` reads unconditionally (`linstor/responses.py` `devices.size`), so `linstor ps l` raises `KeyError: 'size'` and exits 2 against BS where upstream renders the table and exits 0. `ps l` is a hardware-discovery convenience surface; linstor-csi / piraeus-operator never call it, and the device-pool creation path (`ps create-device-pool`, cli-matrix `ps-cdp-*`) is unaffected. Tracked as a missing wire field to populate on the physical-storage DTO; whitelisted until then. |
| 86 | `node interface modify <node> <nic> --active` | BEHAVIOR | permanent | blockstor has no satellite-to-controller connection to re-target: the satellite talks only to the Kubernetes API through the in-cluster Service. `NodeNetInterface` carries no `Active` field, and the REST `is_active` flag is synthesised on read as "first interface", so `--active` changes nothing. To make another interface active, reorder `spec.netInterfaces` so it comes first; a changed address reaches the node's DRBD configuration after its satellite pod restarts. Pinned by `TestSatelliteFlagsLackControllerBindAddress` and `TestNodeCRDHasNoActiveField` in `pkg/satellite/stream/redial_spec_test.go`. |

Correct row 86's citation and qualify its DRBD statement.

TestNetInterfaceModifyActiveIsPresentationOnly directly covers the REST behavior and should be cited. Reordering is not display-only because upstream_parity_bug_225_229.go uses NetInterfaces[0] for satellite bind configuration.

However, DRBD peer addresses use peerAddressWithPrefNic. That path can select PrefNic, k8s-internal, or default instead of the first interface. Reordering therefore does not always change the address in the DRBD configuration. Qualify or remove the unconditional address-propagation sentence.

Change the namespace and label to match your installation. Every replica of a volume shares one port. If one volume shows two different ports, stop and find out why.

4. **Take pool snapshots.** A recursive `zfs snapshot` of every pool gives you a rollback point that does not depend on either control plane.

Scope the ZFS-only migration checks.

zfs snapshot and zfs list do not operate on LVM-backed pools. The installation guide lists lvm and lvmthin as supported providers, while the migration guide presents the procedure for a LINSTOR cluster without a provider limitation. If LVM-backed pools are supported, document equivalent rollback and volume-inspection steps. Otherwise, state that this procedure supports ZFS pools only.

Narrow the 501 Not Implemented statement to operation-specific responses.

The remote API exposes read and management endpoints that return 200, while cross-cluster remote shipping returns 501. Do not present every listed feature as having one response code.

After `node interface modify ... --active`, satellite re-dials the controller via the new IP. Today blockstor's satellite reads the controller endpoint from a CLI flag at startup — doesn't honour runtime changes. Document the gap; test asserts the satellite re-dials on Spec change.

**Status (Outcome B — deferred):** Phase 10.6 retired the satellite→controller gRPC wire entirely; the satellite now talks only to the kube-apiserver via `ctrl.GetConfig()`. There is no `--controller-bind-address` flag and `NodeNetInterface` has no `Active` field — `IsActive` on the REST wire is synthesised as `i == 0` (pure presentation). Implementing live re-dial (Outcome A) would require resurrecting a custom controller wire that the Phase 10.6 design intentionally removed. Pinned by `pkg/satellite/stream/redial_spec_test.go` (`TestSatelliteFlagsLackControllerBindAddress`, `TestNodeCRDHasNoActiveField`) — both fail if anyone starts implementing Outcome A, forcing a positive re-dial test to replace them. Tracked as Bug 49 in `docs/known-issues.md`.

Remove the stale active-interface requirements.

This status says Outcome A is not supported. However, Line 110 still says the active marker selects the satellite's dial IP, and Line 160 still schedules re-dial implementation. Revise those requirements to describe the unsupported behavior or remove them.

NOT LGTM. B5 to B8 are fixed, but main changed under the networking page, and the new "copied Secrets" path for piraeus-operator leaves the operator without a client certificate.

Andrei Kvapil (@kvaps) I read the whole site diff again at 8bddf13, page by page, against main at 1652387, which now includes #190. The site builds with Hugo 0.168. A link check over the built HTML finds no broken internal link or anchor, and it does catch an anchor I broke on purpose. The branch merges into main cleanly.

Earlier points

  • B5: fixed. networking.md now says 3370 is open to every pod, and the NetworkPolicy matches the manifests: label app: blockstor-apiserver, ports 3371 and 8081, --rest-bind-address=:3370 (stand/blockstor-apiserver-deploy.yaml:92,115,131-134). compatibility.md agrees.
  • B6: fixed. The CA mirror steps and the LinstorCluster in csi.md are the same as stand/install-piraeus.sh:58-95, and troubleshooting.md points there now. The second path added in the same commit has a gap, see B10.
  • B7: fixed in migration.md:71.
  • B8: fixed. I checked the new runbook against main. cleanStateDir still removes only .res files. After a reboot, a replica with MetadataCreated and nothing attached goes through ensurePerVolumeMetadata before up, and that path still turns ErrMetadataUnclean into create-md (pkg/satellite/reconciler.go). So the "cannot protect" section is right. The affinity patch path, tolerations: [{operator: Exists}], drbd-utils in the image and spec.volumeDefinitions[].drbdMinor all match, and the probe is drbdadm dump-md as the page says. One sentence is still wrong, see non-blocking 1.
  • Non-blocking 1: "step 4" is gone. The 3372 sentences are gone too, but that code is on main now, see B9.
  • Non-blocking 2 to 11: fixed. cli.md:141 matches internal/cli/command/registry.go, the placer note matches pkg/placer/placer.go, the backup loop uses plurals that exist in config/crd/bases, and the developer guide matches stand/Makefile and license-check.yml. Part of internals.md:15 is still off, see non-blocking 2.

Blockers

B9: networking.md lists ports main no longer uses

The page puts the snapshot stream on 9100 and a satellite metrics listener on 8080. Since #190, main serves the stream on 3372 (const Port = 3372 in pkg/satellite/stream/stream.go, hostPort: 3372 in the DaemonSet) and opens no metrics listener (BindAddress: "0" in pkg/satellite/controllers/manager.go). The old stream port is at networking.md:18, :88, :95 and :111, and the 8080 listener at :20, :23, :106 and :112. An operator who follows this page opens a port nothing listens on and keeps 3372 closed. Cross-node clones and restores then fall back to a full DRBD sync without saying why.

c79a443 dropped the upgrade note from operations.md because the code was not merged. It is merged now, and an upgrade from v0.1.17 changes the port under running satellites. Please describe 3372 and the missing 8080 listener as main has them, and put the note back: open 3372 between storage nodes before step 5, and expect clones to fall back to a DRBD sync while old and new satellites run side by side. If the site is meant to describe v0.1.17, it has to say so and give the main values next to it.

B10: copying only the CSI Secrets leaves piraeus-operator without a client certificate

csi.md:93 says to leave out certManager and name the copies in csiControllerSecretName and csiNodeSecretName. The operator talks to the controller too. In external mode it reads spec.apiTLS.clientSecretName, which defaults to linstor-client-tls. reconcileClusterState builds its client with linstorhelper.NewClientForCluster, and that returns the Get error when the Secret is missing (piraeus-operator pkg/linstorhelper/client.go). The affinity controller mounts affinityControllerSecretName, default linstor-affinity-controller-tls. With only the two CSI Secrets copied, the LinstorCluster never becomes Available and the affinity controller has no certificate. The mirror path works because certManager makes the operator create all of them. Please list clientSecretName and affinityControllerSecretName too, plus nfsServerSecretName if NFS is on, or drop the copy path for piraeus.

Non-blocking

  1. troubleshooting.md:128 says that when it is too late, "the satellite log shows create-md for the resource". A successful create-md logs no such line. RealExec.Run in pkg/storage/exec.go does not log commands, and the only messages that mention create-md are error wraps and the collision recovery line (reconciler.go:3599,3791,3982). The grep at :92 has the same problem. An operator who finds nothing in the log would think the replica is still intact. A symptom that does show would be better, for example the replica coming up Inconsistent and syncing from a peer.
  2. internals.md:15 says ?reallocate-port=true makes the allocator pick a new port. ClearDRBDPort in pkg/store/k8s/resources.go clears only Status.DRBDPort. The allocator fills only a nil Spec.DRBDPort (internal/controller/resource_controller.go:753), and the controller copies the spec back into status (:815). So the port stays the same, and on main the flag looks like a no-op. My earlier point 9 was about the status patch, not its effect. I'd drop "so the allocator picks a new port". Whether the endpoint should clear the spec is a separate code question.
  3. The body of c79a443 says the stream port paragraph describes unmerged code. That stopped being true with #190, and the message stays in main's history.
  4. Open PRs touch the same pages. #221 conflicts on docs/known-issues.md, which this PR deletes and #221 modifies. #215 (plain listener on loopback) changes what networking.md says about 3370, #219 changes "the stream has no authentication", #220 replaces the unclean-shutdown runbook, and #221 renames blockstor.cozystack.io everywhere, the backup loop included. Whichever lands second has to update the site.
  5. CHANGELOG.md:83 on main points at docs/known-issues.md, which this PR deletes.

CI on 8bddf13: E2E lane 1 failed on recovery-auto-place-real-drbd, exit 2 after 4 seconds. The other E2E lanes, piraeus interop, unit, integration, contract and lint passed. The diff changes no code that e2e runs: site/, documents, a comment in a test and workflow path filters. I found no earlier failure of this scenario in the last 29 failed PR runs, so I can't call it a known flake, but I don't see a way this PR causes it.

Thanks, head 35556f4.

  • B9: networking.md describes main after fix(rest, satellite): unbreak CSI clone and restore, move the satellite stream to 3372 #190: the stream on 3372, which address it dials (default, then the first interface with one), and no satellite metrics listener. operations.md has the v0.1.17 upgrade note back: open 3372 before step 5, and the API server reads its Secret through a Role in its namespace. One correction on the fallback: on main a clone or a cross-node restore does not fall back to a DRBD sync when 3372 is unreachable. Only a 404 becomes ErrNotFound, a connection error is returned as is, and the reconcile retries, so the note says those wait and retry during the rollout. The DaemonSet and agent.go comments that say "fall back" disagree with that code; that's a code follow-up.
  • B10: csi.md lists every spec.apiTLS Secret piraeus-operator needs, clientSecretName (linstor-client-tls) included, with their defaults, and says certManager issues the operator's own certificate too.
  • The non-blocking points are in, apart from rewording the c79a443 commit message, which would need a force-push; a squash merge does not keep it.

Code follow-ups I found while checking: reallocate-port clears Status.DRBDPort while the allocator only fills an empty Spec, and the stream dials default instead of the DRBD address order, so a piraeus rewrite of default breaks the stream but not DRBD.

NOT LGTM. B9 and B10 are fixed. Main moved again with #206, and the layer stack page still describes the rule from before it. The new unclean-shutdown check reads a timestamp that does not change across a reboot.

Andrei Kvapil (@kvaps) I read the whole site diff again at cb9b598, against main at 7bb6606, which now includes #206. The site builds with Hugo 0.169. A link check over the built HTML finds no broken internal link or anchor, and it does catch the new #upgrading-from-v0117-or-earlier anchor when I break it on purpose. The branch merges into main cleanly, and main has no changes under site/.

Earlier points

  • B9: fixed. networking.md now has 3372 and no satellite metrics listener, as main does: const Port = 3372 in pkg/satellite/stream/stream.go, hostPort 3372 and 9101 in stand/blockstor-satellite-daemonset.yaml:207-215, and BindAddress: "0" in pkg/satellite/controllers/manager.go:381. The new paragraphs hold too. The peer address comes from resolvePeerAddr in pkg/satellite/controllers/snapshot_fetcher.go. A 404 from every peer ends in a blank volume, and an unreachable peer ends in a cross-node fetch error with the URL in it (pkg/satellite/reconciler.go:1773). A bind failure only logs snapshot stream server exited (pkg/satellite/agent.go:223). The upgrade note is right as well: v0.1.17 serves on 9100 and handles a dial error the same way, so a mixed rollout retries instead of syncing. The Role blockstor-apiserver-secrets is in the API server manifest of step 4.
  • B10: fixed. The table matches the defaults in piraeus-operator v2.10.0 api/v1/linstorcluster_types.go. With certManager set, the operator creates a Certificate for each of these Secrets (internal/controller/linstorcluster_controller.go).
  • Non-blocking 1: the grep is gone, but the check that replaced it does not work, see B12.
  • Non-blocking 2 and 5: fixed.
  • Non-blocking 3: not fixed. The body of c79a443 still says the stream port paragraph describes unmerged code.
  • Non-blocking 4: #221 still conflicts on docs/known-issues.md. #215, #219 and #220 merge cleanly, but they still change what networking.md and troubleshooting.md say.

Blockers

B11: layer-stack.md describes the stack rule from before #206

The page says a definition takes its stack from its own layerStack, and then from its group (layer-stack.md:27). Since #206, main decides the stack once and reads it only from the RD. When the RD has no stack of its own, the controller pins one (pinLayerStack in internal/controller/resourcedefinition_layer_stack.go). An RD with no data gets the group's stack. An RD that already holds data keeps DRBD, STORAGE, and gets the blockstor.io/unapplied-group-layer-stack annotation and a LayerStackNotInherited warning Event. The satellite builds nothing for the RD until it is pinned, and a later change to the group's stack never reshapes an RD that has one.

So a volume with data that is moved into a LUKS group stays unencrypted, while this page says it takes the group's stack. Please carry over the rule from docs/layer-stack.md on main, or link to it: the annotation, the Event, the 503 for a clone of a source that is not pinned yet, and the luks: device already holds data refusal. The sentence in resources.md:96 ("A policy that volumes inherit ... with which layers") needs the same qualifier.

B12: the pod's startTime does not change when the node reboots

troubleshooting.md:92 compares .status.startTime of the satellite pod with the time the node became Ready. The DaemonSet tolerates every taint, so the pod is not evicted while the node is down. After the reboot, the kubelet restarts the containers of the same pod and keeps the pod's StartTime from the status it reads back from the API server (updateStatusInternal in pkg/kubelet/status/status_manager.go). So startTime stays before the reboot. The check says no satellite ran after the node came back, and the operator decides the replica is safe when the metadata is already re-created. That is exactly the case the section is for.

The container start time does change. .status.containerStatuses[?(@.name=="satellite")].state.running.startedAt would work, or a restartCount that went up. A new pod with a fresh startTime only shows up in the hold path, after the force-delete.

Non-blocking

  1. csi.md:49 calls a CSI driver in blockstor-system the supported layout, but the page does not say how to get piraeus-operator there. Its config/default kustomization sets namespace: piraeus-datastore. stand/install-piraeus.sh and the piraeus interop e2e lane both use piraeus-datastore with the mirrored CA, so nothing in the repo installs the layout the page calls supported. A line with the kustomize namespace override would help.
  2. migration.md:78 asks to resolve every LUKS passphrase NOT migrated and no DRBD port warning. #206 adds two converter warnings that need the same: no layer stack of its own ... set spec.layerStack before adopting and a replica was built as ... will not come up as it is (rdLayerStack in pkg/linstormigrate/convert.go). A converted RD has initialized set. If it is left without a stack, the controller pins it to DRBD, STORAGE no matter how its replicas were built.

CI on cb9b598: E2E lanes 1 to 6, piraeus interop, unit, contract and lint passed. Integration failed on TestGroupG/SnapCreateListDelete, which fails on main at 7bb6606 too (run 40561677554). The diff changes no code the integration suite runs.

DRBD minors live in the resource definitions, not in the Resource
spec, so say where each allocation is kept. Use full CRD names in
the dump loop so kubectl cannot pick another product's resource with
the same plural. Drop the paragraph that announced the stream port
and Secret permissions for "the next release"; a later commit
describes them as main has them. Drop the "up to v0.1.17" qualifier
on passphrase properties, which main still honours.

The satellite writes Resource.spec.flags on toggle-disk and the
discovered storage into Node.spec.props, and the activate endpoint
clears the DRBD port through a status patch, so neither half has a
single writer; say where the exceptions are.

In the developer guide, build images with make build-images before
make blockstor, install blockstor before piraeus as install-piraeus.sh
requires, drop the STORPOOL variable smoke-blockstor never reads, and
describe the license check as the denylist it is.

Main serves the snapshot stream on port 3372 and the satellite opens
no metrics listener, so the networking page now lists 3372 and drops
9100 and 8080. It also says which peer address the stream dials and
that an unreachable peer stalls the replica instead of falling back
to a DRBD sync. The upgrade section gets back its note for releases
up to v0.1.17: open 3372 before rolling the satellites, expect
cross-node clones to wait during the rollout, and the API server now
reads the passphrase Secret through a namespaced Role.

Without certManager the operator still needs its own client Secret,
linstor-client-tls by default, to configure the cluster, and the
affinity controller and the NFS server need theirs. Copying only the
two CSI Secrets leaves the LinstorCluster unavailable, so the page
now lists each spec.apiTLS field with its default name.

The satellite does not log the drbdadm commands it runs, so a
re-created metadata block leaves no create-md line to grep for. The
runbook now decides by whether a satellite pod started on the node
after the reboot. The internals page no longer says that
reallocate-port makes the allocator pick a new port: the allocator
reads the spec, which the endpoint does not clear.

The v0.1.17 notes name docs/known-issues.md, which this branch
deletes. Keep the historical mention and say the page is gone, as
the other references already do.

piraeus-operator installed next to blockstor takes its client
certificates from blockstor-api-ca directly. The page now says so and
keeps the copy recipes for a driver that has to run elsewhere.

Since #206 a definition's stack is read only from the definition. The
controller pins one onto a definition that leaves it to its group: the
group's stack when it holds no data, the default stack and an
annotation plus a warning Event when it does. Describe that, the 503
for a clone of a source not pinned yet and the LUKS refusal over data,
and qualify the resource group's "inherited" wording.

The pod survives a node reboot, since the DaemonSet tolerates every
taint, and keeps its old startTime while the kubelet starts its
containers again. Read the satellite container's startedAt and
restartCount instead, and compare them with the outage.

Main now binds the unauthenticated port 3370 to the pod's loopback
(#215) and runs the snapshot stream on 3372 over mutual TLS with a CA
of its own (#219). Say so on the networking, compatibility and
installation pages, add the stream certificate and the new bind
address to the upgrade note, and list the stream TLS failures that
keep a satellite from starting.

The page called a CSI driver in blockstor-system the supported layout
without saying how to get there: piraeus-operator's config/default
installs into piraeus-datastore. Add a kustomization that overrides
the namespace and drops the operator's Namespace object, so a later
delete of the kustomization does not take blockstor-system with it.

Since #206 the converter warns about a definition with no stack whose
replicas disagree, and about a replica built with another stack than
its definition names. Both need settling before adoption, like the
passphrase and DRBD port warnings.

Thanks, head 2a29a55.

B11: layer-stack.md now has the rule from main: the stack is decided once and read only from the RD, a definition without one is pinned, a group stack is not applied to an RD that already holds data (the annotation and the LayerStackNotInherited Event), the 503 for a clone of an unpinned source and the luks: device already holds data refusal. resources.md:96 has the same qualifier.

B12: the check reads the satellite container's startedAt now, and says why startTime does not work after a reboot.

Non-blocking 1: csi.md shows the kustomize namespace override for piraeus-operator. 2: migration.md lists both layer stack warnings and what each one needs. 3: the c79a443 body was reworded, the branch history changed because of that. 4: #221 is the last one to go in, I'll rebuild it on main then.

networking.md also picks up #215 (plain port on loopback by default) and #219 (stream over mutual TLS) now that both are in main.

Andrei Kvapil (@kvaps) LGTM. B11 and B12 are fixed, and the pages now match main at ffd7b90, including #215 and #219.

I read the whole diff again at 2a29a55. The branch merges into main cleanly, and main has no changes under site/. The site builds with Hugo 0.169. A link check over the built HTML finds no broken internal link or anchor, and it catches the new #how-the-stack-is-pinned anchor when I break it on purpose.

Earlier points

  • B11: fixed. layer-stack.md follows pinLayerStack and refreshUnappliedGroupStack in internal/controller/resourcedefinition_layer_stack.go, including what counts as holding data and when the annotation goes away. The satellite waits only for a definition with no stack in a group that sets one (checkLayerStackPinned). Spawn and REST create copy the group's stack, and rd create and rd modify --resource-group in the CLI do not. The 503 comes from ErrLayerStackUndecided in storeErrorRc, and the LUKS refusal is ErrDeviceHoldsData in pkg/luks.
  • B12: fixed. satellite is the only container of the DaemonSet, so the filter picks the right status.
  • Non-blocking 1: fixed. I built the kustomization from csi.md against piraeus-operator v2.10.0. No Namespace object is left, everything lands in blockstor-system, the webhook service references included, and the Deployment name matches the wait.
  • Non-blocking 2: fixed. Both warnings match rdLayerStack in pkg/linstormigrate/convert.go, and so does the no-warning case for replicas that agree.
  • Non-blocking 3: fixed.

Loopback port and stream TLS

The networking, compatibility, installation, operations and troubleshooting pages match main. I checked the bind address default and its checks in cmd/apiserver/bind.go, the stream CA, Issuer, Certificate, Secret, mount and flags in the stand manifests, the name check and per-handshake reload in pkg/satellite/stream/tls.go, and the disabled-stream path in agent.go and client.go. No page still says 3370 listens on every address or that 3372 is plain HTTP.

Non-blocking

  1. #223 changes both converter warnings that migration.md now lists: a definition whose replicas disagree gets skipped instead of converted. Whichever of the two lands second should update that list.

CI on 2a29a55: E2E lanes 1 to 6, piraeus interop, unit, contract and lint passed. Integration failed on TestGroupG/SnapCreateListDelete, TestGroupFRAutoPlace3WithTieBreaker and TestGroupKWFPoolDestroyedDropsFromPlacer. The first one also fails on main at 7bb6606 (run 40561677554). The other two failed on unrelated branches on 2026-10-27 (runs 40477165760 and 40479101531). Outside site/ and docs, the diff only changes a comment in redial_spec_test.go.
