Add Seeed Studio reComputer Industrial RK3576 board - #11136
Add Seeed Studio reComputer Industrial RK3576 board
Supersedes #10546 (same board, rebased on current main; the series was
rewritten as clean per-topic commits and now carries the U-Boot board patch
set that previously lived in the WIP branch).
Adds the reComputer Industrial RK3576 (RK3576 SoM + industrial carrier:
2.5GbE, dual CAN-FD, dual RS485, HDMI, ES8311 audio, PCF8563 hardware
watchdog, M.2 HaLow slot) as a CSC board on the vendor branch, alongside
the existing recomputer-rk3576-devkit.
Commits
board: add reComputer Industrial RK3576 — new config/boards/recomputer-rk3576-industrial.csc, sourcing the existing seeed-studio/recomputer-rk35xx-common.inc family include.
uboot: add reComputer Industrial RK3576 defconfig and dts — vendor
U-Boot defconfig + board DTS (SPI flash boot, same chain as the devkit).
uboot: add reComputer Industrial RK3576 board patch set — 11 patches
under board_recomputer-rk3576-industrial/. Patches 0001–0009 mirror the
already-merged board_recomputer-rk3576-devkit series (new SPI flash
support, usbplug fixes, SD-card boot switch, boot device scanning, empty
eMMC handling, MAC-from-EEPROM plumbing); 0010–0011 are new
(SN macros moved out of the ethaddr ifdef, MAC from EEPROM with CPUID
fallback).
bootscript: seeed-rk35xx: document board usage and actual EEPROM
contents — comments only, documents which boards consume which EEPROM
fields.
board: recomputer-rk3576-industrial: enable systemd hardware
watchdog — PCF8563 countdown timer wired to the SoC reset line; RuntimeWatchdogSec=30 / RebootWatchdogSec=30 (kernel-side watchdog
driver lands via the linux-rockchip companion PR).
kernel: rk35xx vendor: enable RK3576 CANFD module — one-line config
addition for the restored rk3576_canfd driver.
board: recomputer-rk3576-industrial: enable Morse driver for WM6108
HaLow support — opts the board into the Morse microchip driver for the
M.2 B-key WM6108 (SPI) module; the DT overlay is applied via armbianEnv.txt overlays, not forced.
seeed: add opt-in wireless regdom hook with runtime override support — WIRELESS_REGDOM board variable (default off); runtime override via armbianEnv.txt wins over the build-time value.
Kernel-side pieces (board DTS, PCF8563 watchdog driver, RK3576 CAN-FD
driver, HaLow overlay) are proposed against armbian/linux-rockchip; the
board image and extension mapping against armbian/armbian.github.io.
Summary by CodeRabbit

Industrial carrier on the RK3576 SoM: dual GbE (Maxio MAE0621A on
GMAC1), CAN1, RS485x2/RS232 via CH344, DI/DO, M.2 NVMe, mini-PCIe
(4G/LoRa), HDMI, ES8311. eMMC-only SKU (no SD slot, no SPI NOR).
- WQ9201S WiFi/BT and Maxio PHY installed as DKMS debs, headers on
- Panfrost GPU stack; no AIC8800/Morse packages on this board
- Module EEPROM on I2C2 @0x50 exported via armbianEnv.txt
- Board-agnostic hooks from recomputer-rk3576-module-devkit:
bluez-btattach (distro btattach binaries built against glibc 2.42+
write the -S baud as B0 hangup; industrial's BT chain
wq9201s-bt-attach -> `btattach -S 1500000` hits the same bug on
resolute-class releases; gated by SEEED_BLUEZ_BTATTACH_ENABLE,
drop when the distro ships a fixed binary) and pcie-rkep-dkms
(host-side driver for the RK1820 M.2 NPU card)
- Variable and hook ordering aligned with module-devkit for
diffability; BOARD_NAME matches the reComputer naming convention
eMMC-only boot order (sdhci, same-as-spl); sfc0/fspi0/sdmmc kept
disabled since the eMMC balls are shared with fspi0. SPL/pre-reloc
nodes for i2c2 module EEPROM, pcie0 NVMe and Type-C0 rockusb.
Defconfig enables ID_EEPROM and drops ROCKCHIP_SET_ETHADDR so the
MAC comes from the EEPROM patch set.
0001-0009 mirror the rk3576-devkit series (new SPI flash IDs,
rockusb/download fixes, OS boot-device scan after SPI); 0010-0011
mirror the module-devkit series sourcing the ethernet MAC from the
module EEPROM with cpuid fallback.
The EEPROM MAC patch reads independent per-port records: ethaddr
at 0x20, eth1addr at 0x40, each validated with
eth_validate_ethaddr_str() (strict colon format) and
is_valid_ethaddr() (reject blank/multicast). A port without a valid
record derives from the other port (last byte XOR 1); with neither
valid, fall back to the cpuid-derived MACs. Read and validation
failures are logged for field diagnostics.

List the boards sharing this script. Document the board-code table from
actual EEPROM dumps (first 10 bytes per board, "rk35xx" magic): 00A0
RK3576 Devkit, 01A0 RK3576 Module Dev Kit, 02A0 RK3576 Industrial, 00B0
RK3588 Devkit. The detection branch table has no 02A0 entry, so
industrial always keeps its default fdtfile; its EEPROM is used by
U-Boot only for MAC addresses (ethaddr at 0x20, eth1addr at 0x40, with
cpuid fallback). Also note the per-board EEPROM bus/address (industrial:
I2C2, 0x50) and show the actual 0x20/0x40 record format — a 17-byte
colon-separated ASCII MAC per port — with example values matching the
firmware's last-byte-XOR-1 convention.
The carrier has an external PCF8563T watchdog on I2C3 (INT wired to the
SoC reset line, exposed via the nxp,timer-watchdog DT property).
Ship a manager drop-in so PID 1 owns /dev/watchdog and pings it at
half the 30 s timeout (matching the kernel DTS timeout-sec): the
runtime value bounds hang-detection latency at a cheap 15 s ping
cadence.
RebootWatchdogSec=30 rather than upstream's 10-minute default: the
external chip keeps counting across the SoC reset and nobody pings it
until the next boot's PID 1 re-arms /dev/watchdog, so the value must
cover reboot handoff + U-Boot + kernel boot (~10 s measured on this
board) with margin -- 10 s would risk a reset loop on slow boots.
Set CONFIG_CANFD_RK3576=m for the rk3576_canfd block (2ac10000.can)
on the industrial carrier. The option exists only in the 6.1 vendor
SDK; 6.12 uses the shared CONFIG_CAN_ROCKCHIP path.

⚠️Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.
Keep a derived MAC outside the factory address range.
If one unit has a factory ethaddr ending in 00 and no usable eth1addr record, this code derives an address ending in 01. That address can be another unit’s factory ethaddr on the same network. The cpuid path sets the locally administered bit before it derives a second address, but this path does not. Derive a locally administered address instead, or require a distinct programmed second address. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

If both EEPROM records hold the same valid MAC, the second record was
applied as-is and both Ethernet ports ended up sharing one address,
which breaks switching and ARP once both ports are attached to the same
L2 domain. Treat a duplicate eth1addr record as invalid and derive the
second address from ethaddr instead, with an explicit boot log line so
the bad record can be spotted and reprogrammed.
SEEED_MORSE_ENABLE now installs the single morse-halow meta instead of
enumerating five packages. The meta pins exact versions of
morse-fgh100m-dkms, morse-firmware, hostapd-morse-tools,
wpa-supplicant-morse-tools and morsectrl-tools, so the family upgrades
in lockstep through apt.
morse-firmware ships as a deb (seeed_armbian_extension deb_source
halow/morse-firmware, snapshot of MorseMicro/morse-firmware 974c7744)
instead of being fetched from GitHub at image build time and baked into
the BSP: post_family_tweaks_bsp__recomputer_fgh100m_morse_firmware is
dropped. This removes a network fetch from the image build and lets
firmware upgrade through the Seeed APT repo in lockstep with the
driver. The morse-firmware deb Replaces the armbian-bsp-{cli,desktop}-*
packages that owned /lib/firmware/morse/* so existing images install
cleanly.
SEEED_MORSE_ENABLE now defaults to no; industrial is the only board
shipping a Morse module (Wio WM6108) and opts in explicitly. Drop the
now-redundant explicit no from module-devkit.
The wireless regdom hook moves from recomputer-rk35xx-common.inc into
the industrial board config (renamed per its hook convention);
SEEED_WIRELESS_REGDOM defaults to US and remains overridable at build
time.
SEEED_EXTENSION_REF now defaults to branch:main so builds pick up
extension fixes without re-cutting a tag; override with
SEEED_EXTENSION_REF=tag:vN on the command line to pin. The revision
actually fetched is captured in SEEED_EXTENSION_COMMIT (declare -g:
the wrapper is sourced inside enable_extension(), where plain
assignments are function-local) for the extension to write into
/etc/armbian-release.
