ci(oss): confirm Season 4 CLI bonus entries from the PR template checkbox - #553
Conversation
…kbox The published Season 4 rules say a PR enters the CLI Improvement Bonus by ticking a checkbox in the PR template and that a bot confirms the entry in a comment. Neither existed, so entrants had nothing to tick and nothing confirmed their entry. - PULL_REQUEST_TEMPLATE.md gains a "Season 4 CLI Improvement Bonus" section: the entry checkbox and a Discord username line. - bonus-entry.yml (pull_request_target, no checkout) keeps one sticky comment per PR. A ticked box confirms the entry, adds the s4-cli-bonus label and lists what the PR still needs to be counted: a linked issue assigned to the author, out of draft by the close, a Discord username. An unticked PR that looks like an entry (a [Hackathon] title, a linked hackathon issue, or a Discord username filled in) is asked rather than silently left out. Unticking a recorded entry withdraws it. After the published close (Oct 29, 11:59 PM PT) the bot makes no changes. - Each run reads the live PR instead of its event payload, so a run queued behind a quick tick/untick settles on the latest description and labels. Only a comment written by the bot counts as the sticky one, so a pasted marker cannot hijack or block someone else's entry. - bonus-entry.test.mjs runs the inline script against a mocked client, including a check that the template's own checkbox, once ticked, is what the bot recognises. WalkthroughThe pull request adds a Season 4 CLI bonus-entry section to the PR template and a workflow that reads entry details, linked issues, and current PR state. The workflow records entry states with a sticky comment and label. It does not determine eligibility. ChangesSeason 4 CLI Bonus Entry

- Around line 183-194: In the bonus-entry state selection, handle `previous ===
'entered'` before `looksLikeEntry` so an entrant who unticks the box receives
the withdrawal message and state even when their description includes a Discord
username. Keep the existing `maybe` behavior for other matching entries.

…ike one An entrant who unticks the box usually still has a Discord username filled in, which on its own reads as a near miss. The near-miss branch ran first, so the sticky comment asked them to enter instead of recording the withdrawal. Check for a previous entry first, and keep a recorded withdrawal on later unticked edits. Test Coverage Report

Part of #554
Why
The Season 4 rules tell entrants to tick "I'm entering this PR for the Season 4 CLI Improvement Bonus" in the PR template and say "a bot confirms your entry in a comment". Neither existed: the template had no such box, and no workflow confirmed anything.
What changes for contributors
## Season 4 CLI Improvement Bonussection with the entry checkbox and aDiscord username:line.bonus-entry.yml) keeps one sticky comment per PR:s4-cli-bonuslabel, and lists what the PR still needs to be counted: a linked issue assigned to the author, out of draft, a Discord username (or a note that we'll reach them on the PR).[Hackathon]title, a linked issue labelledhackathonor titled[Hackathon], or a Discord username filled in)After the published close (Oct 29, 11:59 PM PT =
2026-10-30T06:59:59Z), the bot makes no changes, so the record freezes at the close. The tally is thengh pr list --label s4-cli-bonus --state all. The bot only records entries. Maintainers still decide eligibility, which per the rules means merged PRs judged a genuine improvement, three per person. What the comments look like
Rendered by running the workflow's own script against a mocked client:
Entry, all set
Entry, still missing things (draft, issue not claimed, no Discord)
Looks like an entry, box unticked
Withdrawn
Design notes
pull_request_target, no checkout. The workflow is metadata-only likepr-triage.yml(check-pr-target-checkout.mjspasses). Permissions arepull-requests: readandissues: write, with the same testsprite-hob App token first and theGITHUB_TOKENfallback.pulls.get) instead of the event payload. A run queued behind a quick tick-then-untick would otherwise act on a stale body and label set and leave the label out of step with the comment.github-actions[bot]/testsprite-hob[bot]). Anyone can paste the HTML marker, and without this check a pasted marker could hijack someone else's entry or block it.Part of #N. The issue line refreshes when the PR is edited or pushed, not when the issue gets assigned, which is the same behaviour as the gate.Tests
bonus-entry.test.mjs(23 tests) extracts the inline script from the workflow, asissue-triage.test.mjsdoes, and runs it against a mocked client. One test ticks the box in the realPULL_REQUEST_TEMPLATE.md, so the template and the bot cannot drift apart.node --test '.github/scripts/*.test.mjs': 105 tests, 103 pass, 0 fail, 2 skipped (the two pre-existing org-audit skips).npm run lint, npm run format:check, actionlintand thepull_request_targetcheckout guard are clean.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
