Closes #636

The "Season 4 bonus entry" check has failed on almost every entry since #553 (183 of 189 runs). The bot's comment call gets a 403, "Resource not accessible by integration".

Cause: the workflow requests pull-requests: read. GitHub refuses a comment on a PR number without pull-requests: write, even through the issues API (the 403 lists issues=write; pull_requests=write). The App token also 403s because the App only has Issues, so the GITHUB_TOKEN fallback fails as well. pr-triage.yml uses the same pattern with pull-requests: write and passes.

Changes:

  • pull-requests: write.
  • workflow_dispatch sweeps every open PR not opened by a bot. Re-running a failed pull_request_target run reuses the workflow file as it was at the time, so it would 403 again. One failing PR does not stop the sweep; the run fails at the end and names it.
  • The per-PR logic moves unchanged into processPr(number).

Tests: 4 new cases in bonus-entry.test.mjs (permission, sweep skips bots, sweep continues past a failure, dispatch gating). All 4 fail on the old workflow. 107/107 script tests pass, and actionlint 1.7.12 is clean.

After merge: run "Season 4 bonus entry" once from the Actions tab to backfill.

Entries were never at risk: eligibility is judged after the close from the ticked checkbox.

…ed runs

The bonus entry check failed on almost every entry: commenting on a PR
number needs pull-requests: write, even through the issues API, and the
workflow requested read. The App token lacks the permission too, so the
GITHUB_TOKEN fallback 403'd as well.

Grant pull-requests: write, and add a workflow_dispatch sweep over open
PRs. Re-running a failed pull_request_target run reuses the old workflow
file, so the sweep is the way to backfill.

Walkthrough

The bonus-entry workflow supports manual runs that process open, non-bot pull requests. It reuses per-pull-request processing and continues after individual failures before reporting an aggregate failure.

Changes

Bonus-entry workflow sweep

Layer / File(s) Summary
Manual trigger and workflow conditions
.github/workflows/bonus-entry.yml, .github/scripts/bonus-entry.test.mjs
The workflow adds workflow_dispatch, write-capable pull-request permissions, a concurrency group keyed by the PR number or sweep, and a condition that allows manual execution. Tests verify these settings.
Reusable pull-request processing
.github/workflows/bonus-entry.yml, .github/scripts/bonus-entry.test.mjs
The workflow moves per-pull-request retrieval and processing into processPr(number). Tests add sweep-specific retrieval, pagination, and warning capture.
Sweep execution and validation
.github/workflows/bonus-entry.yml, .github/scripts/bonus-entry.test.mjs
Manual runs list open, non-bot pull requests and continue after per-pull-request failures. Tests cover selected PR processing, bot exclusion, warning capture, and aggregate failure reporting.

Use one concurrency group for the sweep and PR runs.

A workflow_dispatch sweep and a pull_request_target run can both process the same PR. They currently use different groups. Both runs can list comments before either calls createComment, so both can create the sticky comment. GitHub only serializes runs that use the same concurrency group, and the comment endpoint creates a new comment rather than deduplicating it.
