takeOrders4 skips an order whose calculate fails - #2923
In takeOrders4, a calculate eval that reverts, or returns too short a stack, reverted the whole batch. State can move between quote and take (e.g. an ensure that held at quote time fails at take time), so one order could block every other order in the batch.
The calculate eval4 is wrapped in try/catch. A caught revert leaves the stack empty, so it takes the short-stack path. The success flag is stack.length >= CALCULATE_ORDER_MIN_OUTPUTS.
takeOrders4 passes true. A reverting eval or a short stack emits OrderCalculateReverted(address sender, address owner, bytes32 orderHash), skips the order and makes no state change for it. Later orders still take.
quote2 and clear3 pass false, so they still revert: a reverting eval bubbles its own revert data, and a short stack reverts UnsupportedCalculateOutputs. A clear cannot drop one side, the same as ClearZeroAmount.
Handle-IO is unchanged. Its reverts still revert the batch.
RaindexV6 runtime grows 0x5180 → 0x58d3 bytes against the merge base f971796, under EIP-170. The candidate address and codehash move, and so do the dependent arb candidates.
Ruling: unknown interpreters
"The caller should not include orders from unknown interpreters." The taker vets interpreters offchain. A no-code interpreter, malformed returndata, gas burn or a returndata bomb is not raindex's job to defend against: those still revert the batch (no-code fails Solidity's extcodesize check before the call, malformed returndata fails the ABI decode, both outside the catch). Gas is unbounded, no per-order cap.
clear alice / bob passes true → testClearAliceCalculateRevertReverts / testClearBobCalculateRevertReverts
skip branch never taken; emit removed → take skip tests
catch bubble inverted → clear revert tests, take revert skip test
catch bubble → revert(0,0) → quote and clear revert tests
catch leaves a 2-item stack → testCalculateRevertSkipsOrderAndLaterOrderTakes
short-stack skipFailure inverted → take skip tests
short-stack path or success path reports the wrong flag → take skip tests
>= → > on the stack length → take skip tests, handle-IO revert test
Oracle: the issue's intent (one order whose calculate fails must not block the batch; quote/clear keep reverting) and the ruling above (unknown interpreters out of scope).
Category check: an order-caused calculate failure from a known interpreter is a revert or a short stack; both skip in takeOrders4. Unknown-interpreter failures are out of scope by ruling. Handle-IO is out of scope and unchanged.
Skipped order: handle-io never runs, vaults never move
RaindexV6TakeOrderSkippedOrderTest covers every takeOrders4 skip cause (calculate revert, short stack, OrderExceedsMaxRatio, OrderZeroAmount, OrderNotFound on a removed order). It tests each cause at the first, middle and last position, a mixed batch with every cause, an all-skipped batch, and testFuzzSkippedOrdersRunNoHandleIO (batch length 1-6, random cause per slot, 5096 runs). Each order has its own vault and store key. For every skipped order: its handle-io :ensure(0 "handle ran") does not revert the batch, its handle-io :set is absent from the store, its input and output vault balances are unchanged, and its own skip event is emitted exactly once. As a positive control, every taken order's handle-io :set is present in the store.
Mutants of RaindexV6.takeOrders4 / calculateOrderIO (baseline committed first; each run against this suite plus RaindexV6TakeOrderCalculateRevertTest):
ratio-skip branch calls handleIO → killed
zero-amount-skip branch calls handleIO → killed
calculate-skip branch calls handleIO on the zeroed calculation → killed (it also reverts the pre-existing skip tests)
calculateOrderIO returns a populated calculation on failure and the calculate-skip branch calls handleIO → killed by the new suite. The pre-existing :;-handle skip tests survive this mutant; that is the gap this suite closes.
removed order treated as live (dead check → false) → killed
calculate-skip branch appends the zeroed calculation to orderIOCalculationsToHandle → killed
settlement loop i < length → i <= length → killed
taken branch drops handleIO (positive control) → killed
ratio-skip / zero-amount-skip / populated calculate-skip branch appends to orderIOCalculationsToHandle → survives, equivalent. That array only drives pushVaultZeroInput. Handle-io runs inline and never reads the array. The push flushes the transient (owner, inputToken) vault-0 slot. That slot is non-zero only when a taken vault-0 order of the same owner and token is in the batch, and then it is flushed exactly once, to the same owner, for the same amount, whichever entry flushes it.
Full forge test at 52fb0a0 with a public FLARE_RPC_URL: 749/750 pass. testIsStartBlockFlare fails because the public Flare RPC does not serve archive state.
Full forge test -vvv and forge lint -D warnings in the rainix sol-shell at 2aea60e5c4004cfaeb6168f26e71b3ed695fd349: lint clean, 739/742 pass. The 3 failures are Flare fork tests that need FLARE_RPC_URL, which is not set locally.
Failed or incomplete order calculations are now skipped during order taking, allowing later eligible orders in the batch to proceed. A new event reports skipped calculations.
Bug Fixes
Skipped orders do not run their handling logic or affect balances and stored state.
Quote and clear operations continue to report calculation failures rather than silently skipping them.
A reverting calculate eval, or one returning fewer than
CALCULATE_ORDER_MIN_OUTPUTS stack items, now skips that order with
OrderCalculateReverted instead of reverting the batch. quote2 and
clear3 still revert with the eval's own revert data. Handle-IO reverts
stay hard reverts.

Walkthrough
RaindexV6 now handles calculation failures differently by entry point. takeOrders4 skips calculations that revert or return too few stack items and emits OrderCalculateReverted. quote2 and clear3 continue to propagate calculation failures. Tests cover these paths and skipped-order batch behavior.

calculateOrderIO accepts a skipFailure option and returns a success flag with the calculation. quote2 and clear3 disable skipping. Tests check that failures in those entry points still revert.
takeOrders4 skips failed calculations and emits OrderCalculateReverted. The ABI artifacts include the event, and tests cover skipped calculations, store writes, and handle-IO failures. The test fixture bytecode artifact is also replaced.

Explanation
Issue #2837 requires takeOrders4 to skip calculate reverts, continue to later orders, emit an identifying event, and avoid state changes for the skipped order. The reviewed changes add skipFailure handling, emit OrderCalculateReverted, and add tests for later-order execution, skipped-order store and vault state, and short-stack failures. The changes preserve hard reverts for handle-IO failures. quote2 and clear3 pass false and retain calculate-failure reverts. The PR states that calculate gas remains deliberately unbounded, which satisfies the issue's explicit gas-policy requirement.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The contract changes, ABI updates, fixtures, subgraph ABI, and tests support issue #2837. The tests cover the new skip event, skipped-order behavior, no handle-IO execution, later-order execution, and retained hard reverts. The reported unknown-interpreter behavior and unchanged handle-IO behavior match the issue scope. No unrelated change is demonstrated. The excluded generated candidate files do not prevent this assessment because the reviewable source, ABI, and test evidence establish the relevant behavior.

Treat odd calculate KVS output as a skipped calculation failure.
A reachable interpreter can return a decodable result with two stack items and an odd KVS array. The current check accepts it. handleIO then passes the array to store.set before handle-IO evaluation. OddSetLength reverts the call, so later viable orders are not processed.
Include KVS parity in the calculation-success check. In skip mode, this emits OrderCalculateReverted and continues. With skip mode disabled, the existing revert path remains active, so handle-IO reverts remain hard batch reverts.

Update the calculation-success check in the order calculation flow to require
both the minimum stack outputs and an even-length calculateOrderKVs array.
Preserve the existing skipFailure behavior so invalid results are skipped in
skip mode and follow the existing revert path otherwise.

Takers vet interpreters offchain, so an unknown interpreter's malformed
returndata or missing code is not raindex's concern. Drop the low-level
staticcall and LibEvalReturnData; a revert from a known interpreter still
skips the order in takeOrders4, a short stack still skips, quote2 and
clear3 still revert.

Every skip cause (calculate revert, short stack, exceeds max ratio, zero
amount, not found) at first/middle/last position, mixed and all-skipped
batches, and a fuzz over batch shape. Taken orders in the same batch are
the positive control for handle-io running.
