Turns on show_full_output so the Claude Code Review run names the tools it is denied and why it stops early.

It has to land on main first: claude-code-action skips any PR whose workflow file differs from the default branch (run 38063829895), and a debug rerun still hides the transcript (run 38063926349). The repo is public, so the full transcript lands in public Actions logs; the fix PR that follows turns it back off.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Chores
    • AI-generated code reviews now show the full review output, making all available review details visible in the results. This update affects review reporting and does not change the app’s end-user features or behavior.

The action hides it unless show_full_output is set, and refuses to run a PR whose workflow differs from main, so the diagnosis needs this on main. Reverted by the fix that follows.

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 2ad76

This change prints the full transcript of the automated code review in public CI logs. Those logs could expose repository contents, or any secrets the review process reads, to anyone. Merging it is a deliberate tradeoff for diagnosis. It should be accepted explicitly and reverted promptly, or the output should be captured privately instead.

Security Architecture Review

Security architecture risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 2ad76

The workflow will publish its full review transcript to public logs. A later configuration reversal does not itself retract previously published output. The exposure is limited to review execution; disclosure of credentials has not been demonstrated.

Retained concerns

  • Medium · security · inferred: Enabling full output expands the public disclosure surface of a credentialed review process. No workflow-level content restriction or mechanism to retract output accompanies the change; a later disabling change is not a confidentiality rollback for earlier runs.
Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The supported exposure scope is transcript content from this repository's review runs, readable by the public through Actions logs. No evidence establishes cross-repository, tenant, data-store, or environment compromise.

Security Findings and Attack Paths

  • observed — The supplied security assessment retains a verified sensitive-data-exposure finding at the newly enabled full-output sink. The demonstrated path is review output to public logs; the available evidence does not demonstrate that an OAuth token or any particular secret appears in those logs.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • inferred — Pull-request event gating and secret-backed credential injection constrain execution and credential provisioning, but do not establish transcript confidentiality. Public repository content limits incremental code disclosure. External masking may further limit exposure, but its behavior was not available for inspection.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Prefer narrowly scoped, sanitized diagnostics over full public transcripts. If full diagnostics are necessary, define a restricted publication destination, a bounded enablement period, and explicit handling of logs already emitted.

Keep full output disabled in this public workflow.

This setting makes the action emit all Claude messages, including tool results, API responses, and file contents that may contain secrets. This repository’s Actions logs are public, so any sensitive value in a run’s output becomes public. The action warns against enabling full output in this context. (github.com)

The Claude Code Review run reviews the PR but cannot post what it finds.

On the canary PR #49 (run 38066240558, full output from #50) the review
found the planted bug, then:

- `mcp_servers` was `[]`, so the plugin's
`mcp__github_inline_comment__create_inline_comment` tool did not exist.
- Claude fell back to `gh api .../pulls/49/comments`, which is not in
the plugin's allowed tools, and was denied (`permission_denials_count:
1`).

claude-code-action only starts that MCP server when `claude_args
--allowedTools` names it (`src/mcp/install-mcp-server.ts`,
`hasInlineCommentTools`). This passes the plugin's own allowed-tools
list through `claude_args`, as the action's
`examples/pr-review-comprehensive.yml` does, and turns
`show_full_output` back off.

This PR's own review run will be skipped: the action refuses a PR whose
workflow differs from main. Verification happens on #49 after merge.
