Always review imported target content before continuing translation work.

## Re-import an Updated File

If you import a Word document that matches one already in the project, Codex offers **Update Existing** instead of creating a duplicate pair. The source is rebuilt from the fresh file and existing translations are carried over. Use this when the original document was revised, or when a newer Codex release fixes an import problem in a file you imported earlier.

## Round-trip Workflows

Round-trip importers keep enough original structure to export back to the original format. Common examples include DOCX, IDML, USFM, Markdown, OBS, TMS files, CSV/TSV, and Biblica workflows.

## Review AI Instructions After a Language Change

When you change the source or target language to a different language, Codex opens a **Review AI Translation Instructions** window, because instructions written for the old language pair almost always need updating:

- **Regenerate** creates fresh instructions for the new language pair. You can edit the result before saving.
- **Save** stores the instructions shown in the text box.
- **Cancel** (or closing the window) leaves your instructions untouched and shows a reminder pointing to where you can update them later.

### New Features

- **Audio track selector** in the video player: when a streamed video offers more than one language track, pick which audio track plays. See [Video and Audio Translation](/docs/translation/video-audio-translation).
- **Advanced speech recognition (ASR)**: transcription now includes language auto-detection, a new **Re-transcribe** option, and updated settings.
- **Built-in audio editor**: trim and edit recordings without altering the original, and preview your changes before saving. Recordings are automatically converted to a compact format on save. Audio attachments now share a 50 MB size limit. See [Video and Audio Translation](/docs/translation/video-audio-translation).
- **Milestone editing**: milestones and subdivisions can now be renamed, promoted, and demoted directly from the navigation panel, and these changes are preserved across syncs. See [Milestones and Navigation](/docs/translation/milestones-and-navigation).
- **Hide cells that shouldn't be translated**: project admins can now hide cells that shouldn't be translated. Hidden cells are excluded from exports, and the change is tracked in edit history. See [Merging and Editing Source Cells](/docs/translation/merging-editing-source-cells).
- **Recording overage display**: when an audio recording runs past the allowed time, the recorder now shows how far over you are.
- **AI system message review on language change**: changing your project's source or target language now prompts you to review and update the AI system message, so translation suggestions always match your current languages. Regeneration shows progress while it runs. See [Source and Target Languages](/docs/project-management/source-and-target-languages).

### Improvements

- **Faster project opening**: smarter media handling skips unnecessary downloads and saves bandwidth, especially for **Stream Only** projects.
- **Better Word (.docx) import**: an option splits long passages into properly sized cells instead of one large block.
- **HTML formatting in AI edits**: when HTML Enforcement is turned on, AI suggestions from the sparkle button keep valid formatting, and a new **Resolve All** action fixes flagged formatting mismatches in bulk.
- **Tidier exports**: exporting files that have no audio no longer creates empty folders, and exported file names now include verse ranges.
- Export structure warnings now include a **Continue anyway** button, so a lingering mismatch no longer blocks the export flow.
- The edit history view is now wider, making better use of the available space.

### Fixes

- The **Publish to Cloud** button no longer covers text in narrow columns.
- The audio status shown in the cell list is accurate again.
- **Consolidate by Character** audio export now works in **Stream & Save** and **Stream Only** modes.
- Deleting a video now stops it from continuing to load in streaming modes.
- In the Export wizard, clicking a cell that has no audio now opens the correct chapter.
- The **Unmerge** option for merged content was restored, and merging in the editor now asks for confirmation. See [Merging and Editing Source Cells](/docs/translation/merging-editing-source-cells).
- Fixed several project-content issues: duplicate or repeated cells, mismatched verse ranges between source and target, source/target timestamp mismatches, deleted lines appearing in USFM export, and lingering Greek/Hebrew corpus marker titles after an overwrite.
- Book names containing a period no longer lose the text after it when syncing.
- **Sync data protection**: fixed an issue where syncing could save a translation file back as empty, wiping its contents. Sync now prevents these wipes and automatically restores any emptied files it finds. Also fixed a bug where one user's out-of-date working copy could unintentionally delete files for everyone else during sync, and other cases where files disappeared after sync merges.
- Verse ranges (e.g. `1-3`) are no longer dropped when exporting to HTML or USFM.
- USFM export no longer drops Paratext chapter headings.
- Cells split with "ideal cell length" during Word document import now export correctly, even when some segments are still untranslated.
- Re-importing a Word document into an existing project now merges properly instead of duplicating content, with clearer prompts during import.
- Fixed stray text in BSB imports and added support for additional Biblica content that previously wasn't imported.
- Fixed duplicate imports caused by double-clicking during eBible downloads or the Finish Import step. Imports now complete immediately and can't be submitted twice.
- HTML tag mismatches can now be resolved properly, with a new structure repair option, improved tag handling, and a batch-resolve button that only appears when mismatches actually exist.
- Fixed false "missing tag" warnings: merging two untranslated cells no longer triggers a structure mismatch, and editor-only formatting from imported InDesign documents is now ignored when comparing structure. Real mismatches are still caught, and repeated tags are now summarized instead of listed one by one.
- Merging several source cells in a row now updates the open target file after every merge, instead of only the first one until a reload.
- The editor now stays on the verse you were viewing after merges, unmerges, milestone edits, and toggling source editing mode, instead of jumping to the top of the chapter.
- Pressing Escape in the edit history view now closes just that view instead of the whole cell editor.

## Hide Cells That Do Not Need Translation

Imported files sometimes contain cells nobody should translate, such as boilerplate or repeated front matter. In source editing mode, each cell has an eye button next to the merge button:

1. Enable source editing mode.
2. Click the **eye** button on the cell you want to hide.

- Are left out of exports. Round-trip exports keep the original untouched text in their place.

Some projects allow milestone names or labels to be edited inline. Use this carefully in shared projects because milestone changes can affect navigation, comments, export selection, and teammate expectations.
The milestone accordion includes an edit (gear) toggle that reveals editing controls:

- **Rename**: click the pencil next to a milestone or subdivision to rename it inline. Renaming is always available.
- **Change placement**: with **Enable Milestone Placement Editing** turned on in Interface Settings, the gear also reveals controls to add and remove milestones and to promote a subdivision to a milestone or demote a milestone to a subdivision.

## Pagination and Subdivisions

Interface Settings has a "Pagination & Subdivisions" section that controls how milestones split into pages:

- **Cells per page** sets how many cells load per subdivision page.
- **Maximum subdivision length** optionally sub-chunks long stretches between custom breaks.

Changes apply to open editors without a reload.

## Video Audio Tracks
