Docker

FolderView Plus enhances the Unraid Docker page without replacing container configuration or application data. Saved folders organize native rows and expose eligible actions through folder-aware controls.

View modes

View Purpose
FolderView Groups native container rows into the saved hierarchy.
Host list Restores the normal Unraid Docker table without FolderView grouping.
Command Presents a folder-oriented command surface while retaining native container actions.

Changing views does not delete folder configuration. Reset view clears temporary toolbar filters and returns to the normal unfiltered state.

Quick finder

Click the borderless magnifying glass to the left of Basic/Advanced, or press Ctrl+K (Command+K on macOS). The search field expands with the toolbar; results appear only after you type. Clearing the query hides the results, and closing search clears the query. Escape or clicking outside closes it. If native view controls are unavailable, search appears above the table.

Docker searches Docker folders and containers by name or containing folder path, including collapsed nested branches. Use All, Folders, or Containers to narrow the counted, collapsible sections. Up to 40 matches are shown at once; refine broad queries. Results use configured icons with safe fallback images and compact cards consistent with folder previews.

  • Click a result's name or icon, or select it with arrow keys and press Enter, to reveal its native row. This clears temporary folder focus and Docker filters, returns to FolderView when needed, expands the containing branch, and highlights the row. A temporarily revealed hidden branch keeps its saved hidden state.
  • Folder cards offer Focus folder and Edit folder. A folder suppressed by visibility settings can offer editing without a reveal target. Three-dot Actions controls open the existing folder or container menu when available.
  • Container cards show running/stopped/paused state and the familiar globe, terminal, and list icons for Open WebUI, Open console, and View logs. WebUI requires a running container with a safe available address; console requires a running container and the host terminal handler. Unavailable shortcuts are disabled. Logs can remain available for stopped containers when Unraid supplies the handler.

Typing and navigating search do not change assignments or start/stop members. Mask names and icons masks result names, identifying icons, and folder paths, including selected and fallback icons. The typed query remains readable and is not saved or included in diagnostics; clear identifying text before sharing a screenshot. Search respects keyboard navigation, reduced motion, RTL text, and smartphone layouts; the panel opens above the field when needed and follows scrolling/resizing. Ctrl+K preserves focus in open dialogs and text composition does not trigger result actions.

Folder rendering

FolderView leaves native rows available during startup, obtains a coherent inventory snapshot, and then groups visible rows. Later start/stop/update changes reconcile incrementally when structural configuration has not changed.

  • Expand a folder to show native container rows.
  • Collapse it to show the configured preview.
  • Direct members and child folders remain distinct.
  • Host list is the fastest comparison when investigating grouping behavior.

Move a folder to root

Open the nested folder's menu and choose Move to root. The folder and its descendants move together; indentation, visibility, previews, and the former parent's totals update immediately. Expanded branches remain open. Collapsing the former parent must not hide the moved root. A rejected save restores the previous on-screen hierarchy and expansion state.

This behavior requires stable 2026.10.05.06 or newer. Hard-refresh after upgrading, then repeat the move without refreshing the page to verify it. Moving folders changes organization only; it does not stop or relocate containers or application data.

API-first runtime state

On a compatible Unraid host, FolderView Plus prefers the local Unraid GraphQL API for Docker runtime-state reads. This requires no FolderView Plus setting, API key, remote connection, or GitHub secret. Capability detection happens locally each time the runtime is prepared.

The ownership boundary is intentionally conservative:

  • Native Unraid/PHP inventory remains authoritative for which rows exist and for configuration metadata.
  • GraphQL enriches those known rows with current state by matching stable container name and ID evidence.
  • A lifecycle action first requests the affected container when the host supports targeted reads; periodic refresh uses the supported full-container query.
  • Native Unraid controls remain the action owner on the legacy Docker page. API availability does not replace host menus or create duplicate container rows.

When the endpoint, permission, query shape, or requested capability is unavailable, FolderView Plus automatically uses its established PHP snapshot path. Temporary rate limits and service failures use bounded cooldowns before another API attempt. Existing folders and native rows stay usable during fallback.

Diagnostics expose only an aggregate provider state such as ready, fallback, cooldown, or unavailable. They do not export GraphQL results, container identities, query text, tokens, cookies, or server error details.

Docker actions

Version 2026.10.15.07 reconciles native and API-prefixed container identities after Start, Stop, Pause, Resume, and Restart. Standalone containers and folder members refresh their native status in place and clear settled loading indicators while retaining native menus and grouping. Ambiguous shortened identities are not assigned to an arbitrary container. Hard-refresh Docker and Dashboard after updating, then test the original action through the native menu and the folder flow.

Start, Stop, Pause, Resume, and Restart show a blue loading icon at the right of the affected folder's name cell. It disappears after success; partial failures or unconfirmed state leave a warning icon. Click it, or use Enter/Space while focused, to open progress or failure details. Dismiss a warning from its details; closing pending details leaves the action running. Duplicate actions on the same containers are blocked while pending. Start/Stop/Pause/Resume are confirmed against refreshed state; Restart reports accepted requests.

Hover, focus, or tap a folder's running-count label for running, stopped, paused, and update counts, including whether descendants are included. Opening these details preserves expansion. Privacy masking applies to workload names.

Activating a nested folder preview opens the regular folder menu without expanding its parent. Focus, Pin, Lock, and Hide show their active states; Expand to folder expands and scrolls only when selected. Applicable management actions, including Move to root, use the same guarded flow as other folder menus. Escape closes the menu and restores focus.

Eligible folder actions may start, stop, pause, resume, restart, or update members. Eligibility is calculated from current state and supported host actions; unsupported operations are hidden or disabled. Folder locks prevent accidental branch-level operations.

Always review the selected scope. A folder action may operate on several containers.

Collapsed preview cards can expose quick icons for Open WebUI, View logs, and Open Console when the container and host support them. These controls act on the selected member, not the complete folder.

The folder editor's Context setting controls what happens when the rest of a collapsed preview card is activated:

  • None leaves the preview without a container context action.
  • Default opens the original Unraid container menu from the preview icon, name, status, or remaining card surface. Enter and Space activate the same menu for keyboard users. The bridge uses Unraid's original control and does not copy host IDs or inline handlers into the preview.
  • Advanced uses the FolderView Plus graph/context behavior configured in the editor.

Preview Rows 2, 3, 4, and Unlimited retain the same interaction in every visible row. WebUI, logs, console, and other quick actions remain separate and do not open the container menu.

Custom WebUI profiles

Custom WebUI profiles let one Docker folder keep multiple named launch sets such as Media Admin, Monitoring, or Daily Tools. The original Open all WebUIs action remains available; a profile opens only the direct folder members selected for that profile.

To use one, edit the Docker folder, open WebUI Profiles, add a uniquely named profile, select at least one direct member, and save. The folder menu then shows Open WebUI profile with a ready count for each profile. Manage WebUI profiles returns directly to the editor section.

At launch time FolderView Plus resolves current runtime state and safe WebUI addresses instead of storing URLs in the profile. Only selected containers that are running, not paused, and currently expose a safe WebUI are opened. Stopped, paused, removed, or unavailable members stay selected for later but are skipped. If the browser blocks tabs, allow popups for the Unraid host and retry.

Profiles can be duplicated, reordered, searched, or deleted. A Docker folder supports up to 100 profiles and each profile supports up to 250 selected members. Unique container renames are reconciled when possible; unresolved selections remain visible as unavailable so they can be repaired.

Profiles follow folder clone, full export/import, backup, and restore. Generic settings copy/paste, templates, smart defaults, and saved folder defaults intentionally omit them because their member selections belong to one specific folder.

Hide and restore folder rows

The folder menu's four quick actions are Focus, Pin, Lock, and Hide. Hide removes the folder row from FolderView without deleting the folder, changing assignments, or stopping containers. Hiding a parent also hides its complete nested branch and member rows.

Use the 10-second Undo notice immediately after hiding. For later recovery, open View -> Hidden folders. Revealed hidden rows are dimmed and labeled Hidden; restore one from its folder menu or choose Restore all hidden folders. Host list still shows native rows because that mode intentionally bypasses FolderView grouping.

FolderView Action Bar

The responsive Action Bar provides:

  • Add Folder, Expand All, and Collapse All.
  • Temporary Unassigned, Updates, Empty, and Health Issues filters with live counts.
  • Manage Folders and the View menu.
  • Show/hide empty folders, clear folder focus, refresh folder state, Bulk Assignment, Rules, Reset view, and Capture page diagnostics under Tools.

Unassigned/update/health filters are temporary and do not rewrite saved folder order or visibility. Show/Hide empty folders changes the persisted hideEmptyFolders preference. Reset view clears the temporary filter/focus state and returns all eligible rows.

With Hide Empty Folders enabled, a parent remains visible when a child or deeper descendant contains an effectively grouped container, including regex matches. Entirely empty branches remain hidden. Toggles, folder-state refreshes, page reloads, and folder moves preserve that rule; a parent that loses its last populated child becomes hidden. Temporary filters and explicitly hidden folders still apply separately.

Command View

Command View is a FolderView-owned operational surface. Each folder card summarizes direct/descendant counts and eligible states, then offers branch-aware commands:

  • Start branch and Stop branch.
  • Update branch when updates are known.
  • Force update when no normal update branch is available; use only when you intentionally want Unraid's force-update behavior for the branch.
  • Open WebUIs for eligible members.
  • Edit the folder.

Branch commands include descendants. Review displayed eligible counts before continuing; locked or ineligible members remain excluded or disabled.

Status, health, and alerts

Folder summaries can show running/stopped/update badges, state details, trends, attention accents, and a runtime health badge. Docker health presets control how stopped percentages, updates, and all-stopped conditions affect severity. These are presentation and operator-awareness tools; they do not change container state.

Privacy

The Docker-page Privacy control can mask names/icons, LAN IPs, ports, volume paths, registries, public IPs, interfaces, and external URLs. It changes rendered text, copied text, labels, tooltips, links, and new rows observed while enabled. It does not modify Docker configuration. See Privacy.

Compose Manager

Compose Manager is an optional integration. FolderView Plus detects compatible labels and metadata where supported, but behavior depends on installed versions and available host markup. If rows are missing or duplicated, compare Host list, disable conflicting custom overrides, and include plugin versions in the report.

Native Docker safe mode

When FolderView Plus detects an unsupported or future native Docker surface, it preserves Unraid's page and avoids injecting a second folder hierarchy. A safe-mode banner is a compatibility protection, not proof that saved folder data was deleted.

Do not force legacy selectors onto a native page. Capture diagnostics and check Compatibility and Performance.

Troubleshooting sequence

  1. Switch to Host list and confirm native rows exist.
  2. Reset temporary view filters.
  3. Expand the affected folder and compare direct members.
  4. Hard-refresh after plugin updates.
  5. Disable custom CSS/JS temporarily.
  6. Use Tools -> Capture page diagnostics before leaving the affected layout.
  7. Copy runtime-banner diagnostics before refreshing if an error is present.
  8. Run Settings Diagnostics, confirm the capture is fresh, and attach a sanitized bundle.

An API fallback by itself is not data loss and normally requires no action. If runtime state appears stale, capture diagnostics before refreshing and include the aggregate API provider state in the report.
