Task 3 of the 30 Oct Cody spec. Stacked on #285, which is stacked on #284; merge those first.

What changes on /ai-debate-practice

  • The first H2 is "What is the best AI debate practice tool?". The first sentence names DebateOwl and says what its practice does: Sparring in School 4-6-6-3, LD and PF at real speech times, typed or spoken, with a judged verdict, then Crossfire and drills on the weakest point. It makes no "best" or "Add Vercel Web Analytics to project #1" claim. The second sentence says when ChatGPT, Claude, ArguFight, MindDuel, PublicForumAI or Debate Ladder is enough, as of October 2026.
  • The old "Can practising debate against an AI actually make you better?" answer follows as its own section.
  • "What to look for in an AI practice partner" is the spec's six-point checklist, with tick boxes that only help the reader count.
  • "How practice tools compare (as of October 2026)" is a table of DebateOwl, ChatGPT or Claude, ArguFight, MindDuel, PublicForumAI and Debate Ladder against the checklist. It uses "Not stated" wherever a vendor's page says nothing.
  • The page keeps "Which tool for which debater", the URL, the 45-minute session, the worked example and the format tips. A dated sources list closes the article.
  • The title is now Best AI Debate Practice Tools (2026): Sparring and Timed Rounds | DebateOwl (63 characters before the suffix). og:title follows it, the JSON-LD headline gets a new headline field, and the description is one sentence with no "top pick".
  • New FAQ: "Which AI can I practise debate against?" (8 questions in FAQPage). /best-ai-for-debate's "Compare by question" block links this page for practice rounds.
  • The pricing sentence sits once beside the hero buttons. render_page now fails generation if a page asks for it and shows it zero times or twice.

I kept the H1 as it was. A changed H1 would have relabelled this page in 16 other guides' Related blocks.

Checked against the acceptance criteria

  • The page has exactly 2 tables. The new one has 6 tool rows and its caption says "as of October 2026".
  • The title is 63 characters before " | DebateOwl", and FAQPage is valid.
  • /best-ai-for-debate links here, check_templating passes with 12 pages, the jargon count is 0 and the sitemap count is unchanged at 66.
  • The build's check-site and check-links passed, npm test passed, and I skipped npm run verify because the spec asks for light checks.

The page now answers "What is the best AI debate practice tool?" with a
seven-point checklist the reader can tick, then a matrix of DebateOwl,
Debate Ladder, ArguFight, PublicForumAI, MindDuel, ChatGPT and Claude
against those points, a pick per kind of debater, and a dated source
list. Competitor cells come from each product's own page, checked
October 30, 2026.

The app pricing sentence appears once, beside the page's buttons, and
render_page now fails if a page asks for it and it is missing or
repeated. The new H1 also changes the label of this page in other
guides' Related lists and in llms.txt.

The answer now opens with what DebateOwl's practice does (Sparring in
School 4-6-6-3, LD and PF at real speech times, typed or spoken, a
judged verdict, then Crossfire and drills) and says when a chatbot or
another tool is enough. The old "Can practising… make you better?"
answer follows as its own section, then the spec's six-point checklist
and a "How practice tools compare (as of October 2026)" table with six
tool rows. New title, headline and description; new FAQ "Which AI can
I practise debate against?"; /best-ai-for-debate links the page.

The H1 is back to the original, with a separate JSON-LD headline, so
the other guides' Related labels no longer change.
