omits only separately assigned guest/empty cases. Run one group without that
flag so all eight extra cases remain covered. Each attempted case gets a log;
failures do not stop subsequent cases, and any failure makes the runner nonzero.
Each case renders on Mesa's software rasterizer, so set `OPENNOW_UI_JOBS` to run
that many cases at once on separate Xvfb displays. With `LP_NUM_THREADS=1`, one
case per CPU gives the best throughput. CI splits the matrix into six groups and
runs `OPENNOW_UI_JOBS=$(nproc)` on each 8-vCPU Blacksmith runner.

Validate OPENNOW_UI_JOBS before the wait loop.

OPENNOW_UI_JOBS=0 makes the scheduler wait with no running jobs. wait -n fails, but || true hides the error, so the loop can hang.

The original abc example is not accurate: with set -u, Bash exits on that value. Other malformed values can bypass the throttle, and positive values outside Bash's arithmetic range can wrap and cause the same empty wait loop.

Reject invalid values before scheduling. The positive-integer regex also needs a bound check for the shell's arithmetic range. The README defines the value as a concurrency count but does not define behavior for invalid input, so fail-fast handling is an appropriate convention.

Review comment at @tests/ui_layout/run.sh at line 15:
Validate OPENNOW_UI_JOBS immediately after assigning parallel_cases and before
the scheduling loop: reject values that are not positive integers or exceed
Bash’s arithmetic range, and exit with an error before scheduling. Keep valid
concurrency counts on the existing scheduling path.
