Basics

• What OS is supported?
  • Windows 10 2004+ (x86/x64/ARM64)
• Do I need an HG Engine project?
  • Yes. Point the app at your project root (contains armips/, data/, include/).
• What are the requirements?
  • Windows 10 2004+, an HG Engine project; for building: VS 2022 + .NET 8
• How do I install?
  • Use install.bat if provided, or install the .msix (see Getting-Started).

Editing

• What can I edit?
  • Species (overview, TM/HM, tutors), Trainers (full parties), Moves, Encounters, Items, Config.
• Are level‑up/evolutions/egg moves editable?
  • Read‑only in UI; Preview/Save works. Edit files directly for complex changes.
• Where are prices and mart items?
  • Prices: data/itemdata/itemdata.c. Mart Items: armips/asm/custom/mart_items.s (if present).
• Where are crashes/logs?
  • App LocalState: last_crash.txt, first_chance.log.

Saving & safety

• How do I save safely?
  • Click Preview → review diffs → Save. .bak backups are created automatically.
• Can I undo?
  • Restore from .bak via your editor or version control; use the change log for recent edits.

Shortcuts & tips

• Ctrl+S saves on editor pages
• Use search filters on Species/Trainers lists and TM/Tutor tabs

Troubleshooting

• No Species Found or empty lists?
  • Verify project path and required files (e.g., include/constants/species.h).
• Install/packaging errors?
  • Ensure certificate is installed to Trusted People (and Root if needed).
• App slow?
  • Use local SSD, close heavy apps; large projects take longer to parse.

Updates & uninstall

• Update by installing the newer .msix over the existing install
• Uninstall via Settings → Apps → HGEngineGUI → Uninstall
