Welcome to the MetalRender wiki WWDC 'keynotes'

What is MetalRender? Pebbles' events

MetalRender is a rendering backend for Minecraft designed specifically for macOS. MetalRender uses Apple's stuff to make a sandbox block game run faster on Macs, which have a powerful processors price tag.

Inspired by Nvidium (a mod for NVIDIA GPUs made by amazing Cortex), MetalRender brings blocky graphics optimisations to Minecraft on Mac, making your gameplay ever so blockier and more efficient.

Key Features keynotes

  • Metal Rendering: Apple's Metal graphics API for rendering
  • Seamless uh efficiency?: works with Uzi, N, V and J to establish the equity partnership with JC Jenson's (this is a joke)
  • **Performance Optimisations **: Includes features like LOD, quality scaling and MetalFX
  • Command-Based Configuration: Commands for seamless adjustments

System Requirements

  • Minecraft: 1.21.8 or later
  • Fabric Loader: 0.15+
  • Fabric API: 0.131.0+
  • Sodium: whatever version works with the version of MetalRender that you have
  • ModMenu: Required for versions 0.1.6+ (for config menu!!)
  • Java JVM: 21
  • Operating System: macOS (please not Tahoe, it limits your FPS and just sucks generally), especially macOS 26, Tahoe! Offering an enticing new look with Liquid ass glass.

Installation

  1. Download the latest release from Modrinth
  2. Place the .jar file in your Minecraft folder, available at ~/Library/Application Support/Minecraft/Mods/
  3. Ensure ModMenu, Fabric API, Fabric and Sodium are installed (and the correct versions!)
  4. Launch Minecraft with Fabric

Compatibility

  • Works on: Apple Silicon Macs and only M chip Macs
  • Shaders: Not currently supported (by not supported, I mean that you can run with it but I'm not fixing any errors)
