Dependency changes can leave multiple Rust cache generations on
main.Delete an older generation only when a newer cache exists for the same job, OS, architecture, Rust environment, and archive version. Keep entries created or used within the last 48 hours. Keep the newest generation even when it is idle.
Run cleanup every six hours. Recheck each candidate before deletion, and report the deleted size. Manual runs default to a dry run. Keep the existing cleanup for closed PRs.
The earlier cache snapshot contained 1.47 GiB of older generations in matching environments. These entries qualify only after 48 hours without use. Actual savings depend on cache use and prior eviction.
