v5.0.0 — Node.js 24 runtime
- Change: Upgraded from Node.js 16/20 to Node.js 24.
- Impact on this repo: None. This is an internal runtime change handled by GitHub Actions infrastructure. No workflow YAML changes needed.
v6.0.0 — Credential persistence moved to a separate file - Change: persist-credentials now writes to a separate git config file instead of the main .gitconfig.
- Impact on this repo: None. This workflow sets persist-credentials: false, so credentials are never persisted at all. The change to how they're persisted is irrelevant.
v7.0.0 — Block fork PR checkout for pull_request_target / workflow_run - Change: By default, actions/checkout now blocks checking out a fork PR's code when triggered by pull_request_target or workflow_run events. A new allow-unsafe-pr-checkout input must be set to opt back in.
- Impact on this repo: None. This workflow triggers only on push: tags: "v*" — it never uses pull_request_target or workflow_run, so the new security guard is irrelevant.
Summary
The two inputs this workflow uses — fetch-depth: 0 and persist-credentials: false — are unchanged across all three major versions. The breaking changes target credential storage internals (v6) and fork-PR security defaults (v7), neither of which applies to a tag-triggered publish workflow. Safe to merge.
