factory_bot is a fixtures replacement for generating test data in Ruby. (In Ruby testing, "fixtures" are static, pre-defined sets of data loaded into the database before tests run; factory_bot replaces that static approach with flexible, code-defined "factories" that generate data on demand.) It offers a straightforward definition syntax, and supports multiple build strategies — for example, creating and saving a record to the database, building an unsaved in-memory instance, generating just a hash of attributes, or creating a lightweight stubbed object for tests that don't need a real database record. It also supports multiple factories for the same class (user, admin_user, and so on), including factory inheritance.
