   Remeasured 10-15 (speed test tree, paired medians vs fd, net of startup): main 1.56-1.66x; #1513 branch 1.25-1.36x; #1521 no help (1.62-1.70x); #1513+#1521 1.31-1.34x. The walk is not the gap (count(*) 0.76-0.87x fd); the remainder is the single output thread (~65ns/row: step+vtab ~31, get_ref ~16, JSON ~18). Next lever after #1513 merges: cap walk workers (16 of 32 logical here -> 1.17-1.22x), needs a CI-safe floor.
