First Run Setup
Next PMS needs a small amount of one-time configuration before people start logging time. Make the changes below on your site right after installing the app.
- Open Projects Settings.
- Enable Ignore User Time Overlap.
- Enable Ignore Employee Time Overlap.
- Save.

Why: Next PMS tracks time entries by date, not by datetime — an employee records how many hours they spent on a task on a given day, with no start/end clock. Frappe's built-in overlap check would otherwise reject perfectly valid same-day entries; enabling both settings bypasses that overlapping-time validation when time entries are created.
- Open HR Settings and go to Standard Working Hours (Employee tab) to set the default for everyone.
- Set Work Schedule — whether working hours are counted Per Day or Per Week. If left blank, it defaults to Per Day.
- Set Working Hours — the number of hours a person is expected to work for the selected schedule.

Why: Working hours can vary by policy, so Next PMS reads the Standard Working Hours from HR Settings to know how many hours each person is expected to work and how those hours are counted. They drive how expected capacity and utilisation are calculated.
- Create the project (see Projects and Billing Types for how projects are created).
- As a Projects Manager, open the project and share it with each employee who will work on it — Read access is enough.
- Repeat for every project those employees need to log time against.
Why: Employees can only make time entries against a task whose project has been shared with them. Without sharing, those employees won't see the project or be able to log time against its tasks.
