Name the six hosts in the test version guide, map Vercel and Netlify previews in deploy on push - #8547
Conversation
… description The opening answer and the meta description now name Fly.io, Netlify, Prisma Compute, Railway, Render and Vercel, the hosts the guide already covers in "How to do it on common hosts", and the opening says that some of them need previews turned on, a workflow or a paid plan first. The meta description is shortened so the host names fit in about 160 characters. Adds an update-history line. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Adds "Coming from Vercel or Netlify previews" under the test-version section. Vercel previews every push to a branch other than the production branch and Netlify builds a Deploy Preview per pull request. Vercel's Preview variables and branch-specific values map to preview-scoped values and branch overrides. Unlike Netlify Database previews, which start with a copy of production data, each declared Prisma Postgres database is created new for the branch; the DATABASE_URL caveat points to the "Its own databases" item instead of repeating it. Links the blog guide that covers six hosts. Vendor details checked on 2026-10-21 against vercel.com/docs/git, vercel.com/docs/environment-variables, Netlify's Deploy Previews docs and Netlify Database docs. …first-100-users post The links to the customer data, customer records and business app operations guides were appended after the update history on 2026-10-17 and 2026-10-20. They now sit above it under a "Related guides" heading, so they do not read as part of Sources, and a history line records the move. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Netlify builds a Deploy Preview by default for a pull request in a connected repository only when its base branch is a production branch or has branch deploys enabled, and Deploy Previews can be disabled (docs.netlify.com/deploy/deploy-types/deploy-previews/, checked 2026-10-21). These pages cover hosting a test version of an app next to production: the blog guide that compares preview and staging setups on six hosts, the Prisma Compute deploy-on-push docs page, and the first-100-users hosting post.
Changes
/blog/host-a-test-version-without-replacing-production): the opening answer and the meta description name the six hosts the guide already covers (Fly.io, Netlify, Prisma Compute, Railway, Render, Vercel), and the opening says some of them need previews turned on, a workflow or a paid plan first. The meta description is shortened so the host names fit in about 160 characters. Checked against the guide's own host sections and the Fly.io review-apps, Railway environments, Render preview-environments, service-previews and pricing pages (checked 2026-10-19) and the Vercel and Netlify pages below (checked 2026-10-21). updatedAt and one update-history line./docs/compute/deploy-on-push): new "Coming from Vercel or Netlify previews" section.
