fix(web, mobile): relative images and links in GitHub PR descriptions resolve against the PR - #27590
In the Pull Requests view, images in a GitHub pull request description written relative to the pull request page () or to the host (<img src="/<owner>/<repo>/blob/<sha>/shot.png?raw=true">) show "Image unavailable", and relative links point at files in the local checkout. github.com resolves them against the pull request URL. Reproduced on main (32ecd71726) on the web client with two public pull requests: omacom/omarchy-theme-marketplace#1 (root-relative, every image unavailable) and lim010111/bside#35 (page-relative, all 6 table images unavailable).
Change
SourceControlDefinition gets an optional resolveRelativeUrl(url, changeRequestUrl). GitHub implements it by resolving page-relative and root-relative destinations against the pull request URL, as the browser does on github.com. It returns null for anything with a scheme, for #…, ?… and empty destinations, and for results that leave the pull request's origin (//host, \\host). GitHub Enterprise works the same way.
changeRequestLinkResolver (client-runtime) turns a change request into a url => url resolver for both clients.
Web: PullRequestMarkdown passes the resolver to ChatMarkdown, which applies it in react-markdown's urlTransform. That covers markdown images and links, reference definitions, and raw HTML <img src> and <a href>; code spans keep their text. A resolved github.com/.../blob/... URL then loads through the existing github-media asset, so private repositories work.
Mobile: image blocks, the gallery, image presses and link presses resolve the same way. Images that the native renderer draws inside tables, lists and links get a resolveImageSource that loads host media through the same signed asset. The native view is keyed to the change request URL, the media location and the connection's HTTP origin. If the view switches to another pull request, the project's cwd arrives late, or the connection switches between direct and relay, those images ask for a fresh signed URL instead of keeping a stale one.
The review guide opts out on both clients, because its prose is written about the checkout and its relative links name workspace files.
vp test run packages/source-control-github/src/shared/definition.test.ts: "GitHub relative URLs > resolves a pull request body's relative destinations against the pull request page" (which also covers the null cases //host and \\host) fails on main (expected undefined to be 'https://github.com/o/r/blob/dd60e3cd/…') and passes here.
apps/web/src/components/ChatMarkdown.browser.test.tsx: "resolves destinations in parsed html and reference links, but not code" covers <img alt="before > after" src="/…">, <img title="src='x'" src="../…">, <a href="../blob/…">, a reference definition, and an untouched code span.
Captures are at 24ddbff and 640b689. Later commits only key the mobile native view to the change request URL, media location and connection origin, which doesn't change rendering once these are known.
vp run check:changed: format, lint, knip, typecheck (18 packages), tests (5 files) and React Compiler checks all pass.
Before = 32ecd71726, after = 24ddbff876 (W2 and W3 at 640b689304). Each side ran from its own checkout as the real app on a fresh database, with the same public pull requests. Web: T3 preview browser, Chrome 156 Linux, DPR 2, no emulation; the wide captures are downsampled to 1280 px by the capture tool. Android: Pixel 9 emulator, Android 16, 1080×2424, font scale 1.0. Diff images are binary: magenta marks changed pixels.
What else changed: loaded images replace the "Image unavailable" chips or blank native table cells, and their intrinsic heights move the content that follows; table columns adjust to the image widths; in W3 the relative README link no longer renders as a local file chip. Not visible in these captures: on mobile, absolute GitHub media URLs that the native renderer draws inside tables and lists now also load through the signed github-media asset instead of directly. Web rows W2 and W3 use English pull requests; the Android table row uses lim010111/bside#35.

A private repository end to end. The fix routes resolved URLs into the existing github-media asset path, but there was no account access to a private repository with relative images.
iOS, desktop (it shares the web renderer), and relay/tunnel connections.
An actual direct/relay switch, or a switch between pull requests in a reused mobile view, on a device.
Mobile link presses, mobile image preview and gallery with resolved URLs, and the review-guide opt-out on either client (no captures).
In these captures the public images loaded through the media service's anonymous fallback.

These tests reproduce #27532: the GitHub definition has no
resolveRelativeUrl, so page-relative and root-relative image and link
destinations in a PR description stay unresolved.

… the PR page
A pull request description's page- and root-relative destinations, such as
`<img src="../blob/<sha>/shot.png?raw=true">`, were read as workspace files,
so images showed "Image unavailable" and text links pointed at the checkout.
`SourceControlDefinition` gains `resolveRelativeUrl`; GitHub resolves against
the pull request URL as github.com's browser does. Web rewrites image, link,
definition and raw-html `src` urls in a remark plugin; mobile resolves image
hrefs, the gallery, image presses and link presses. The agent-written guide
keeps its relative links local on both clients.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…native-drawn images
Web resolves a PR body's destinations in ChatMarkdown's urlTransform, which runs after raw HTML is
parsed, so `<img>`/`<a>` attributes, reference definitions and markdown links all resolve and
code keeps its text. This replaces the remark plugin's regex over raw HTML, which misread quoted
`>` and `src=` inside other attributes. Mobile passes a resolveImageSource so images Enriched
draws itself (in tables, lists, links) resolve and load host media through the signed asset.

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — Relative links and images in GitHub PR descriptions now resolve against the PR page on web and mobile, while review guides retain workspace-relative links. Existing URL sanitization and media handling remain in place, keeping the change narrowly scoped.

Handing over the results from the issue-watch attempt. These results are for our local candidate, not this PR's head. Nothing was pushed.
On main 32ecd71726fee16f335484c1f95cbce126d461f6, reproduced "Image unavailable" for page-relative and root-relative GitHub PR images on an iOS simulator from shiv's Simlock pool and a physical POCO F4 on corex. The test used isolated server state and a runtime-only synthetic description in the actual Pull Requests view, with public T3 icons. No remote description was edited. The source-level reproduction classified ../blob/<sha>/shot.png?raw=true and /owner/repo/blob/<sha>/shot.png as workspace files.
Our local candidate 97e9d4784a177f8ecb37cad997143be45ddb5cbe loaded the page-relative, root-relative and nested list images on both devices; image preview opened and literal Markdown in code stayed unchanged. Focused resolver/Markdown/media tests passed, and vp run check:changed passed format, lint, knip, GraphQL, typechecks for 18 packages, tests in five files and React Compiler checks. The new regressions failed before the fix. Review of our attempt also caught quoted HTML attributes containing > or literal src=, and native signed-image caches surviving PR/connection changes; our local candidate addressed both.
Not verified: your PR's implementation, a real private repository end to end, exact route failover, or desktop. Corex web/Linux desktop captures were obstructed by a global locked-keyring dialog. The macOS test had not started and its queued run has been cancelled. Existing native test clients and servers have been cleaned up.

Explanation
Issue [#27532] requires relative and root-relative destinations in GitHub pull request descriptions to resolve against the pull request URL. The current GitHub definition provides resolveRelativeUrl and rejects schemes, page-local destinations, and cross-origin results. changeRequestLinkResolver applies the provider resolver. Web and mobile pull request Markdown use it for links and images. The existing github-media path handles resolved GitHub media URLs. The reported tests cover GitHub resolution and web Markdown, including HTML, reference links, and code spans.

Explanation
The changes remain within issue [#27532]. Source-control wiring, URL resolution, web and mobile pull request rendering, signed media loading, refresh handling, focused tests, and the review-guide opt-out support the requested behavior. The guide opt-out preserves workspace-relative links in guide content. No unrelated change is demonstrated.

Keep GitHub Enterprise images on the authenticated media path.

Keep GitHub Enterprise images on the authenticated media path.
resolveRelativeUrl can produce an Enterprise repository media URL. gitHubMediaUrl rejects that host, so pullRequestMediaSource returns a direct URI. The server fetcher also only authenticates the fixed GitHub hosts and always looks up the github.com credential. Private Enterprise images therefore cannot use configured credentials.
Extend gitHubMediaUrl and gitHubMediaFetch to recognize the trusted Enterprise host and use that host's credential. Do not broaden the path to arbitrary hosts.

@coderabbitai On the GitHub Enterprise follow-up: leaving it for a separate change. On main, gitHubMediaUrl and the server media fetcher authenticate only github.com and its raw/LFS hosts, so an absolute Enterprise image URL in a description already loads directly, without a credential. This PR changes how relative destinations resolve, not which hosts get credentials. A relative Enterprise image now resolves to the same URL an absolute one would and gets the same treatment. Adding per-host Enterprise credentials to media fetching is a separate fix.
For best results, initiate chat on the files or code changes.
@juliusmarminge Understood. Resolving a relative Enterprise image URL to the equivalent absolute URL does not introduce a new authentication gap. Per-host Enterprise credentials belong in a separate change, not as a requirement for this PR.
Would you like me to open a GitHub issue to track that follow-up?

Learning: In pingdotgg/t3code, remote image loading without a click is intentional for untrusted PR Markdown rendered by apps/web/src/components/ChatMarkdown.tsx. Its Direct image branch renders remote Markdown images as img elements. Mermaid image requests during layout in apps/web/src/components/chat/MermaidDiagram.tsx are accepted under the same policy. Do not require a Mermaid-only remote-image rejection policy solely to prevent network-address or request-timing exposure.

Problem
In the Pull Requests view, images in a GitHub pull request description written relative to the pull request page (
) or to the host (<img src="/<owner>/<repo>/blob/<sha>/shot.png?raw=true">) show "Image unavailable", and relative links point at files in the local checkout. github.com resolves them against the pull request URL. Reproduced on main (32ecd71726) on the web client with two public pull requests: omacom/omarchy-theme-marketplace#1 (root-relative, every image unavailable) and lim010111/bside#35 (page-relative, all 6 table images unavailable).Change
SourceControlDefinitiongets an optionalresolveRelativeUrl(url, changeRequestUrl). GitHub implements it by resolving page-relative and root-relative destinations against the pull request URL, as the browser does on github.com. It returns null for anything with a scheme, for#…,?…and empty destinations, and for results that leave the pull request's origin (//host,\\host). GitHub Enterprise works the same way.changeRequestLinkResolver(client-runtime) turns a change request into aurl => urlresolver for both clients.PullRequestMarkdownpasses the resolver toChatMarkdown, which applies it in react-markdown'surlTransform. That covers markdown images and links, reference definitions, and raw HTML<img src>and<a href>; code spans keep their text. A resolvedgithub.com/.../blob/...URL then loads through the existinggithub-mediaasset, so private repositories work.resolveImageSourcethat loads host media through the same signed asset. The native view is keyed to the change request URL, the media location and the connection's HTTP origin. If the view switches to another pull request, the project's cwd arrives late, or the connection switches between direct and relay, those images ask for a fresh signed URL instead of keeping a stale one.Scope and approval
