Why

Submitting this repository (plugin path plugins/pgx) to Anthropic's plugin directory failed: Folders on the way to the plugin are too large to read. Adding it as a Claude Code marketplace also clones the whole repository (measured: 65 s, 2.2 GB on disk) to install a 96 KB plugin.

What

https://github.com/pgrundev/pgx-plugin now holds only the plugin (19 files, 110 KB): plugins/pgx + LICENSE + a one-entry marketplace manifest and its own validation workflow. It is generated, never hand-edited:

  • plugins/sync.sh --standalone <dir> assembles it; --check-standalone <dir> reports drift. The overlay files live in plugins/standalone/.
  • .github/workflows/publish-plugin.yml: on every push to main touching skills/pgx/**, plugins/** or LICENSE, assembles, validates (claude plugin validate --strict + the directory profile), diffs against the live repository and pushes the new tree (regular push, no force; tags pgx--v<version> once per version). Dry run on pull requests (this PR runs it) and by default on manual dispatch; only pgrundev/pgx main can publish; the job runs in the plugin-publish environment.
  • pgx-plugin's own validate.yml runs on push, PR and daily: strict validation, directory profile, hygiene and directory limits, helper scripts, an install cycle in an isolated config, gitleaks, and --check-standalone against this repository's main. Until this PR merges that drift job fails on purpose (plugins/sync.sh has no --check-standalone mode).
  • plugins/tests/pgx/run.sh (CI job plugin) now also assembles and validates the standalone tree, checks that drift is detected, and installs from a clone of it as pgx@pgx-plugin.
  • Docs: plugins/pgx/README.md, README.md, docs/pgx/local-dev/claude-plugin.md (install paths, measurements, directory submission values, security notes), plus a live validation note.

Install (new, 4 s): /plugin marketplace add pgrundev/pgx-plugin then /plugin install pgx@pgx-plugin, or claude plugin install pgx --marketplace pgrundev/pgx-plugin.

Unchanged

The Skill (skills/pgx), the plugin manifest and version (0.1.2), the pgrundev marketplace in this repository (pgx@pgrundev keeps installing and updating), the Skills CLI install, the runtime, pgx.dev, the installer and the npm pipeline.

Verified

  • plugins/tests/pgx/run.sh and skills/tests/pgx/run.sh: all pass locally (Claude Code 2.1.311).
  • pgrundev/pgx-plugin CI: validation job green; claude plugin validate --strict and --profile directory pass (one warning: no icon).
  • Live, from the published repository (docs/pgx/local-dev/validation/2026-10-26-pgx-plugin-standalone-live.md): install from GitHub, setup through /pgx:pgx (hooks installed once), three concurrent subagents each in their own branch, developer database byte-identical before and after.

Setup still needed (not done in this PR)

  • Publish credential: one of the GitHub App secrets (PGX_PLUGIN_APP_ID, PGX_PLUGIN_APP_PRIVATE_KEY, app installed on pgx-plugin only with Contents: read & write) or a write deploy key (PGX_PLUGIN_DEPLOY_KEY). Without it the publish job stops at its authentication step with instructions. No PAT is used.
  • Optional: required reviewers on the plugin-publish environment.
  • Directory submission is manual at claude.ai/directory/manage (values in docs/pgx/local-dev/claude-plugin.md); an icon, if wanted, must be added before the first submission.

The Anthropic plugin directory refused a submission of this repository (plugins/pgx) as too large to read, and adding it as a Claude Code marketplace clones ~2 GB (65 s). github.com/pgrundev/pgx-plugin now holds only the plugin: plugins/pgx + LICENSE + a one-entry marketplace manifest and its own validation workflow (plugins/standalone/), assembled by plugins/sync.sh --standalone. Install: /plugin marketplace add pgrundev/pgx-plugin, /plugin install pgx@pgx-plugin (4 s, ~300 KB).

- plugins/sync.sh: --standalone <dir> assembles the tree, --check-standalone <dir> reports drift.
- .github/workflows/publish-plugin.yml: on push to main (plugin inputs), assembles, validates (strict + directory profile), diffs against the live repository and pushes the new tree (no force; GitHub App token or deploy key, neither configured yet: the job stops at the auth step with instructions). Dry run on pull requests and by default on dispatch.
- plugins/standalone/.github/workflows/validate.yml: the standalone repository validates itself on push, PR and daily, and fails on drift from this repository's main.
- plugins/tests/pgx/run.sh: assembles and validates the standalone tree, checks drift detection, installs from a clone of it as pgx@pgx-plugin.
- plugins/pgx/README.md, README.md, docs/pgx/local-dev/claude-plugin.md: the lightweight install path first, the original marketplace unchanged, measurements, directory submission values and security notes.

The Skill (skills/pgx) and the existing pgrundev marketplace are untouched.
