The extended amygdala is represented as DHBA:10383 in the Allen Developing Human Brain Atlas and is used as the anatomical source address for 35 human single-cell network records in our dataset. Please add DHBA:10383 as a database cross-reference.
No corresponding live UBERON class or synonym was found. Mapping these records to UBERON:0001876 amygdala would be biologically inaccurate because the extended amygdala includes structures outside the amygdala proper, particularly the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis and sublenticular substantia innominata. Such a mapping would also produce incorrect anatomical ancestry when constructing ontology-based directed acyclic graphs.
The proposed class would provide an anatomical representation for the extended-amygdala grouping used by the Allen atlas and other neuroanatomical resources.
Possible additional relationships for consideration are:
part_of UBERON:0001869 cerebral hemisphere
includes or has part UBERON:0002883 central amygdaloid nucleus
includes or has part UBERON:0002892 medial amygdaloid nucleus
includes or has part UBERON:0001880 bed nucleus of stria terminalis
includes or has part UBERON:0003017 substantia innominata
The precise component relationships should be verified against the DHBA:10383 source hierarchy before being asserted as logical axioms.
