Allow users to specify the host on which the carbonboard should run #1427

Description

@tourniert

Description

Currently, the carbonboard command does not allow users to specify the host on which the dashboard should run. This limits flexibility, especially in environments where binding to 0.0.0.0 or a custom host is required (e.g., Docker containers, remote servers, or network-accessible deployments).

Proposed Solution

Add a --host argument to the carbonboard CLI command. This argument should be forwarded to the app.run(host=..., port=...) method in the underlying Flask application, allowing users to explicitly set the host.

Example Usage

carbonboard --filepath="examples/emissions.csv" --port=3333 --host 0.0.0.0

Technical Details:

  • The --host argument should be optional and default to the current behavior (e.g., 127.0.0.1 or localhost).
