do the other hae an acronyms.tex? its generated so should be empty or not chekced in

i know hti is in other templates but it shold not be really - its generated - authors.yaml yes ..

This looks structurally sound, and committing the example render like authors.tex etc. is expected, so that's all good.
One question I have is whether this is supposed to be named technote_epjconf ?

Thanks @jonathansick - I will leave the committed example renders then. The template comes from https://www.epj-conferences.org/ and is used by the CHEP conference and, I presume, other conferences. This is why I choose the name. But I'm open |

Looks good. I'll make a small update to the backend too so that new epjconf technotes are created with the usual lsst-texmf submodule.
I started with the technote_spietex and adapted to the epjconf templates
