🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Clear failed compiler initialization before the next attempt.
If the asset check fails once, loading retains the rejected promise. Every later compile attempt then fails without retrying, even after the asset becomes available. Clear loading on rejection so the next compile attempt can initialize the compiler. The package performs an asset request during createCompiler. (github.com)

Reviewed changes
Adds OCaml (JS) — a compile-to-JavaScript language that runs the real OCaml compiler-libs frontend in the browser (via @live-codes/ocaml v0.2.0, built with js_of_ocaml), and deprecates the existing ocaml spec in its favour.
- New engine —
ocaml-jsspec (lang-ocaml-js.ts) uses a pass-through worker factory plus arunOutsideWorkerthat lazily imports the hashed ESM compiler (lang-ocaml-js-compiler-esm.ts), which boots@live-codes/ocamlonce and callscompile()→{ js, diagnostics, error? }. - Deprecation — the
ocamlspec (ReScript engine) gains adeprecationhook and a newrescript-ocamlalias/extension so users can opt out of the forthcoming swap to the real OCaml compiler;ocaml.mdxdocuments it. - Wiring — registered in
languages.ts,compile.page.ts,command-menu-actions.ts, SDKLanguage/TemplateNameunions, editor support (Monacoocaml.jsidocaml, CodeMirror mllikeoCaml, CodeJarocaml), en i18n keys,language-info.html, starter template. - Docs/build —
ocaml-js.mdx, Storybook/docs template lists,functions/vendors/templates.js,server/php/inc/starter-templates.json, README badge (123→124),vendor-licenses.md,scripts/build.jsesmBuild entry. - Tests — Playwright case that compiles and runs a
sum=program.
I verified the external contract: @live-codes/ocaml@0.2.0 exposes createCompiler({ baseUrl }) and compile() with the assumed return shape, and its src/compiler/index.js, src/compiler/compile.js, assets/compiler/worker.js and assets/compiler/stdlib.js all resolve (HTTP 200) on jsDelivr.

compiler.compile(code)can reject on a compiler-worker error. The page-side handler does not catch that rejection, so it sends neithercompilednorcompile-failed. The main compile request remains pending. Ordinary invalid source returns diagnostics instead.Suggested fix

Review Verification (local): rebuilt the app and ran the affected tests —

The compile worker is created from a data: URL, which is not a valid base
for `new URL()`, so `getDocsUrl()` threw while building the deprecation
warning link. Because the OCaml deprecation predicate also matches the
canonical name `ocaml`, the warning now fires while the worker enumerates
languages, aborting its init message and leaving the app stuck on the
loading screen. Fall back to the configured relative docs path when the
base URL cannot be used.
The e2e test now selects the language by `data-lang`, since the dropdown
shows the long title ("OCaml (compiled to JavaScript)").
Loading the compiler or running `compile()` can reject, and the page-side handler did not catch it, so the compile request stayed pending. Return the failure as a compilation error with empty output.
