Updated MarkView.Avalonia from 12.2.1 to 12.3.0.

Release notes

Sourced from MarkView.Avalonia's releases.

12.3.0

Links now open on their own on every platform, several click bugs in links are fixed, and tables can size their columns from the markdown source. This release also raises the minimum Avalonia, Markdig and SkiaSharp versions.

Highlights

🔗 Links that just work

External links now open through the platform launcher with no code needed: the default browser on desktop, an intent on mobile, a new tab on WebAssembly. LinkClicked is still raised first, so set e.Handled = true to handle a link yourself, for example to load a linked .md file in place:

viewer.LinkClicked += (_, e) =>
{
    if (e.Url.EndsWith(".md"))
    {
        viewer.Source = new Uri(e.Url);
        e.Handled = true; // skip the default launch
    }
};

Setting Source to a URI with a #fragment now scrolls to that heading once the document has rendered. This release also fixes links inside bold or italic text, clicks that opened the neighbouring link, and a hand cursor that stayed on after leaving a link (see Fixes).

📊 Table columns sized from the source

Table columns no longer always get equal widths. Grid tables (+-----+---+) now size each column in proportion to its width in the source. Pipe tables can do the same from the dash count in the separator row, so |--|------| gives a 1:3 split:

viewer.Pipeline = new MarkdownPipelineBuilder()
    .UseSupportedExtensions(new MarkdownExtensionsOptions
    {
        PipeTable = new PipeTableOptions { InferColumnWidthsFromSeparator = true },
    })
    .Build();

🌐 WebAssembly sample

The repository now has a browser sample, samples/MarkView.Avalonia.Demo.Browser, that runs the full demo app on WebAssembly. Use it as a reference for hosting MarkdownViewer in Avalonia.Browser.

⚠️ Breaking changes

  • Core – External links now open automatically unless a LinkClicked handler sets e.Handled = true. If your handler already opens links (for example with Process.Start) and doesn't set Handled, each link now opens twice. Set e.Handled = true in the handler, or delete it and rely on the default. (#87)
  • Core – Autolinks (<https://…>, bare URLs, e-mail addresses) are now MarkdownHyperlink spans like every other link, not HyperlinkButton controls. Styles that target HyperlinkButton.markdown-link should target MarkdownHyperlink.markdown-link instead. (#87)
  • Core – YouTube thumbnail embeds now raise LinkClicked with the video URL before opening it, so a LinkClicked handler also receives those URLs. (#87)
  • Core – Grid tables now render columns proportional to their source widths instead of equal widths. (#97)
  • All packages – Minimum versions raised: Avalonia 12.1.3, Markdig 1.4.0, and SkiaSharp 4.152.2 for the SVG, Mermaid and Math packages. (#93, #95, #97, #98, #100)

✨ New features

  • Core – External links open through the platform launcher when no LinkClicked handler marks them handled. (#87)
  • Core – Source URIs with a #fragment scroll to that anchor after rendering. (#87)
  • Core – Table columns follow TableColumnDefinition.Width. New MarkdownExtensionsOptions parameter on UseSupportedExtensions(), with PipeTable options to infer pipe-table widths from the separator row. (#97)

🐛 Fixes

  • Core – Fixed links inside bold or italic text (**[docs](…)**) not raising LinkClicked and not showing the hand cursor. (#87, fixes #83)
  • Core – Fixed a click on the right half of a link's last character opening the next link, or nothing. (#87, fixes #84)
  • Core – Fixed the hand cursor staying on after the pointer moved from a link to plain text in the same paragraph. (#87)

Closing: MarkView.Avalonia 12.3.0 breaks clicking links on any line after the first, because of AvaloniaUI/Avalonia#22524 (TextLayout.HitTestPoint reports IsInside false on later lines). It also opens a bold linked image twice.
