Daily Fro Bot Report — 2026-10-27 (UTC)

Run Summary

Category Status Notes
Errored PRs ✅ Prior remediation checked both check runs and legacy statuses; two open PRs remain green. Handoff.
Security ⚠️ Prior remediation: no Dependabot/repository advisories; existing high CodeQL parser findings remain. Handoff.
Control-Plane Integrity ⚠️ Prior remediation verified pins, strip-only imports and guards; Scorecard default-permissions debt remains. Handoff.
Code Quality ✅ Prior remediation passed bootstrap, types, lint and tests: 6,433 passed; 43 skipped; 3 todo. Evidence.
Oversight ❔ Findings below; alert endpoints unavailable on multiple repositories, three empty Actions sources, and rollout drift.
Cross-Project Intelligence ❔ Bounded automation-source survey across accessible tracked entries; two public tracked entries expose no automation source. Coverage partial.
Progressive Improvement ⚠️ npm reports TypeScript 7 and Vitest 5 major drift; zero open learning proposals.

Categories 1–4 below summarize the separate remediation pass, not work repeated here. This run.

Errored PRs

  • #4066 and #4067: successful quality/security checks, expected bot skips, and successful legacy statuses; no repair comments or new remediation PR. Next: Renovate/operator review through normal checks. Remediation handoff.

Security

  • Existing high CodeQL #46 / #47: parser ReDoS remains deferred; next: bounded linear extraction with adversarial coverage. No dependency bump authorized. Full diagnosis and verification.
  • Prior remediation found zero open Dependabot alerts and repository advisories; override-floor gate passed. Moderate/low audit findings and Actions advisory scope are recorded in the handoff.

Control-Plane Integrity

  • Prior remediation verified 154 external SHA/version pins, all 84 production strip-only imports, shared setup, privacy/wiki guards, enforced main protection and active data rulesets. Evidence.
  • Existing Scorecard workflow default read-all: next, justify and narrow the default after checking action needs; its job already overrides permissions. Constraints.

Code Quality

  • Separate remediation passed all four required commands on clean main; 118 test files, 6,433 passed / 43 skipped / 3 todo. Handoff; latest main Main run.

Oversight

Snapshot: 2026-10-27T04:35:35.085867+00:00. Enumerated paginated authenticated-account repositories and paginated organization listings for bfra-me, psware-ps2, and pro-actions; enumeration succeeded. “Can see” means a returned repository with read (pull) access. Public evidence links only.

New = created within 24 hours; stale issue = last updated >30 days. PR aging uses creation >7 days; PR staleness uses last activity >14 days, checking commits, reviews, issue comments and review comments when the initial update was older than 14 days. Issue/PR lists and alert lists were paginated. Main evidence includes current default-head check runs plus separate legacy statuses and the latest observed run per workflow within the last 100 default-branch runs; older workflow history is not an exhaustive health proof. Zero is an observed empty finding list, not a claim that an unavailable scanner passed.

Next steps by linked finding class: new issues → triage owner/priority; stale issues → confirm relevance and record next action; open/aging PRs → review checks and unblock; stale PRs → request a concrete owner/next step; unassigned bugs → assign reproduction/impact triage; security alerts → validate severity and route confirmed vulnerability updates through Renovate; failed checks → inspect linked logs before a scoped repair. No individual issue/PR or label was changed.

Top three hotspots, ranked by distinct qualifying issue + open PR + open security-alert + failed-check/workflow counts (an issue or PR is counted once even if it also ages/stales; unknown sources contribute no invented findings):

  1. marcusrbrown/extend-vscode — 109 qualifying findings; next: prioritize security triage, then unblock its PR queue.
  2. marcusrbrown/sparkle — 84 qualifying findings; next: prioritize security triage, then unblock its PR queue.
  3. marcusrbrown/tokentoilet — 68 qualifying findings; next: prioritize security triage, then unblock its PR queue.

Gateway rollout tracker (category 8): drift found.

Cross-Project Intelligence

Coverage is partial against the complete tracked registry. Every registry entry was considered; accessible public entries received a current tree scan and up to three prioritized CI/agent workflow reads. Thirty exposed automation sources; fro-bot/fro-bot.github.io exposes only CNAME, and fro-bot/systematic exposes built site assets, not source workflows. These two cannot support an automation-pattern assessment. No inaccessible source is treated as clean; public reporting remains confined to public sources.

Adoptable patterns (source inspection, not claims of executed tests):

  • marcusrbrown/.dotfiles / .github/workflows/main.yaml: Use an always() aggregate check with explicit matrix-result validation when package CI gains a matrix; a skipped/cancelled matrix must not become an implicit pass.
  • fro-bot/dashboard / .github/workflows/main.yaml: Apply the scanner completeness triad to future control-plane validators: require expected targets, parse the exact payload shape, and reject inconsistent exit/payload combinations. Distinguish advisories from blockers.
  • marcusrbrown/systematic / .github/workflows/fro-bot.yaml: Use explicit custom-prompt routing precedence and matching delivery predicates as regression fixtures for workflow_call/workflow_dispatch/schedule combinations; a custom prompt must not silently select autoheal delivery.
  • marcusrbrown/metacogs / .github/workflows/fro-bot.yaml: Prepare and validate the complete intended artifact before a single write; report write capability failure instead of probing by overwriting another live artifact. This is useful for daily-report and cross-repo result publication.

Surveyed source inventory: marcusrbrown/ha-config, marcusrbrown/.dotfiles, marcusrbrown/.github, marcusrbrown/containers, marcusrbrown/copiloting, marcusrbrown/esphome.life, marcusrbrown/extend-vscode, marcusrbrown/gpt, marcusrbrown/infra, marcusrbrown/marcusrbrown, marcusrbrown/marcusrbrown.github.io, marcusrbrown/renovate-config, marcusrbrown/sparkle, marcusrbrown/systematic, marcusrbrown/tokentoilet, marcusrbrown/vbs, marcusrbrown/opencode-copilot-delegate, fro-bot/agent, bfra-me/.github, bfra-me/ha-addon-repository, bfra-me/renovate-action, bfra-me/works, fro-bot/dashboard, fro-bot/space-bus, marcusrbrown/mothership, marcusrbrown/dev-like, marcusrbrown/marcusrbrown.com, marcusrbrown/Presentations, marcusrbrown/panthea, marcusrbrown/metacogs.

Progressive Improvement

  • Authoritative current-version source: npm registry latest dist-tag, queried this run; major drift included. ESLint: 10.13.0 → 10.13.0; Prettier: 3.9.1 → 3.9.10 (patch only); TypeScript: 6.0.3 → 7.0.2 (major drift); Vitest: 4.1.11 → 5.0.5 (major drift). Next: review Renovate's existing configuration/dashboard for the major upgrades and compatibility work; no routine versions changed. Manifest; existing Dependency Dashboard.
  • Required CI jobs remain present in main.yaml; latest main Main run succeeded. No missing required quality gate detected. Shared setup remains the dependency bootstrap. The remediation handoff carries the existing scorecard.yaml permission convention debt; no guard weakening is warranted.
  • Open learning-proposal issues: 0, ages None. Open covering docs/drafted-solutions PRs: 0. Neither the >14-day nor two-or-more uncovered-proposal stall rule fires. #3674 was not used as proof of pipeline health.
  • Stale production TODO/FIXME annotations: None in scripts/, packages/, or workflow/action sources; the sole scripts match is intentional test input in check-private-leak.test.ts, not deferred production work.

Needs Human Attention

  • Parser ReDoS: packages/wiki-write-core/src/markdown-links.ts:7,37 has overlapping regex retry behavior; implement bounded/linear extraction while preserving link/code-region restart semantics, extend scripts/markdown-links.test.ts, and regenerate package dist/. Verify bootstrap/types/lint/tests, dist consistency, applicable mutation guards and fresh CodeQL. Do not truncate input, suppress alerts, or use uncalibrated timing assertions. Existing diagnosis and scope constraints; performance-guard learning.
  • Permission convention debt: .github/workflows/scorecard.yaml:19 retains read-all; verify the job's explicit permissions/action requirements before replacing that default with the minimal mapping, then actionlint and normal CI. Do not alter branch protections to improve Scorecard. Existing handoff.
  • Rollout evidence drift: refresh Track cross-repo Gateway operator control-surface rollout #3512's release/checklist text using merged agent#1948 and published v0.126.0; Project already says Done, but readiness still says blocked. Keep dashboard#729 and paired deploy/rollback gates open until proven. Verify actual deployment jobs, consumer exact pin, health and scoped operator acceptance; a green router that skipped services is not deployment. Tracker; release; consumer gate. Dedicated tracker owns updates; this pass did not write tracker/Project fields.
  • Scan coverage: resolve the public scanner/source gaps listed under Oversight before claiming verified-clean coverage. Check required token wiring separately from its scope; do not broaden credentials merely to make a missing-source result green. Prior token-wiring learning. Existing findings are reported here rather than duplicated as follow-up issues.

No new durable wiki fact was strong enough to warrant an additional entry; existing working-tree knowledge/metadata changes were preserved for their owning workflow. No code/configuration changes were made by this pass.

    Remediation handoff — 2026-10-28 (UTC)

Run 40635032046 inspected clean main at c30d0c1c6aa92ee0787a08371a54d0003ebd7582.

    Run Summary

    Category Status Notes
Errored PRs ✅ Only open PR #4069: check runs and legacy commit statuses successful; expected bot skips.
Security ⚠️ No open Dependabot alerts or repository advisories; override-floor gate passed. Existing high parser CodeQL alerts remain.
Control-Plane Integrity ⚠️ 154 external references SHA/version pinned; 84/84 Node strip-only imports passed. Existing Scorecard permission convention debt.
Code Quality ✅ Bootstrap, types, lint and tests passed; 118 test files, 6,433 passed, 43 skipped, 3 todo.

    Errored PRs

    • #4069 is a routine Renovate Actions update, mergeable with no failed checks. Its legacy Security: Private Leak Scan status also passed. No repair warranted; no project commands executed from its workflow-changing branch.

    Security

    • Dependabot and repository advisory endpoints were accessible and returned zero entries. bun scripts/check-override-floors.ts exited 0 on clean main. Full bun audit --json reports 8 moderate and 3 low advisories, no high/critical; these correspond to the aggregate Scorecard vulnerability alert #9. Routine dependency updates remain with Renovate.
    • GitHub Advisory Database Actions high/critical entries were checked against the direct action inventory, including subactions: no affected installed reference identified. Source: GitHub Advisory Database, using advisory vulnerable ranges across majors; no latest-version drift survey performed (proactive oversight is out of scope).
    • Existing high CodeQL #46 / #47 require parser work beyond a mechanical remediation. See handoff below.

    Control-Plane Integrity

    • Parsed all 35 workflow/composite-action YAML files; all 154 external references have a full SHA and semantic-version comment. All 84 production modules in scripts/ and eligible packages/*/src/ imported under Node 24.22.0; erasable-syntax lint passed.
    • Dependency-using jobs use shared setup except the intentional cache-free, lifecycle-disabled private-leak scan bootstrap in .github/workflows/check-private-leak.yaml:65–87; preserve that security boundary.
    • Wiki authority still requires the same-repository data head and authorized identity. Private-leak scan checks out main, treats PR diffs as data, and posts fail-closed legacy statuses. Main protection enforces admins, reviews and required gates; force pushes/deletions are disabled. Both data rulesets are active, with a bypass-free deletion rule.

    Code Quality

bun run bootstrap, bun run check-types, bun run lint, and bun run test all exited 0. No mechanical fix found. Working tree remains clean; no commits, pushes or PRs were needed.

    Needs Human Attention

    • Existing parser ReDoS: packages/wiki-write-core/src/markdown-links.ts:7,37 retries overlapping regex matches on adversarial input. Smallest safe remediation is bounded/linear extraction preserving link parsing and code-region restart semantics, with adversarial behavior coverage in scripts/markdown-links.test.ts, calibrated scaling coverage, and regenerated packages/wiki-write-core/dist/. This is parser redesign rather than a reversible mechanical edit, so it remains deferred under the scope cap. Verify the four required commands, bun run check:wiki-write-core-dist, applicable mutation guards, and fresh CodeQL. Do not truncate input, suppress alerts, or introduce uncalibrated timing checks. Follow docs/solutions/best-practices/calibrate-performance-guards-before-trusting-bounds-2026-10-09.md. Existing diagnosis is retained here rather than creating a duplicate issue.
    • Existing permission convention debt: .github/workflows/scorecard.yaml:19 uses permissions: read-all; the analysis job overrides it with explicit SARIF/OIDC writes. Review required action scopes before narrowing the workflow default, then validate actionlint and CI. No failing run establishes a workflow bug permitting an autonomous edit in this pass. Scorecard branch-protection alert feat: set default settings #1 recommends two reviewers; the actual one-reviewer policy is enforced. Do not change protections to chase a score.
    • No new durable knowledge identified. Knowledge and metadata were not modified. Categories 5–8 and daily-report lifecycle remain with the subsequent observe pass.
