A small patch release that exposes a connect timeout for the HTTP client, bounds the WebSocket handshake of the
client by connection_timeout and makes the server close connections that don't send a request in time.
It also raises the MSRV to 1.87.

[Added]
  • feat(http-client): expose connect timeout option (#1643)
[Changed]
  • chore: bump MSRV to 1.87, required by yoke-derive 0.8.3 (a transitive dependency of url)
[Fixed]
  • fix(client): bound the WebSocket handshake by connection_timeout
  • fix(server): close connections that don't send a request within 30 seconds, configurable with ServerConfigBuilder::set_first_request_timeout
  • fix(server): cancel pending ws calls when the connection closes (#1656)
  • fix(server): dropping a cloned SubscriptionSink no longer closes the remaining subscription (#1650)

v0.2.190

There is now a single config for enabling 64-bit time_t: libc_unstable_time64. This can be set
unconditionally; it opts in to 64-bit time_t on the following platforms that use 32-bit by
default:

  • 32-bit Linux-GNU
  • 32-bit Linux-uClibc
  • 32-bit Linux-musl. Note that setting this flag also enables some other changes that happend in
    musl v1.2.
  • 32-bit Windows-GNU
  • ESP-IDF (all targets with this environment are 32-bit)

Most other 32-bit platforms are either already using 64-bit time_t, or are considered legacy
and will not be gaining support from their upstream maintainers.

You can enable this using RUSTFLAGS:

RUSTFLAGS='--cfg=libc_unstable_time64' cargo ...

Note that there may still be some changes to features gated by this config option, hence "unstable"
in its name. In the near future we will rename it to just libc_time64. Until then, please test it
out and report any bugs you find!

Removed

libc exposed quite a bit of API on all Apple platforms that is not actually available anywhere other than MacOS. This release removes a number of these cases.

  • breaking Apple: Disable mach.h API on Apple mobile OSs (e6bfb187513c)
  • breaking Apple: Remove a large number of items from iOS, tvOS, watchOS, and visionOS that are only available on MacOS. (#5158)
  • breaking Apple: Remove the unsupported exec* and fork calls from tvOS and watchOS (#5158)

Additionally, this release cleans up a lot of API that has been deprecated since at least libc 0.2.100, released 2021-08-20.

  • breaking Android, Linux: remove unsound af_alg_iv trait implementations. The have been deprecated for a long time because they allowed out-of-bounds reads via safe functions. (444db4456f38)
  • breaking Remove most items that have been deprecated since before 0.2.100 (#5401)

Other removed items:

  • Dragonfly: Remove INHERIT_ZERO that does not exist upstream (#5587)
  • Musl riscv64: Remove GNU-gated REG_* definitions (#5527)
  • Musl riscv64: Remove non-esxistant REG_NARGS (#5527)

A huge thank you to our GSoC student Adam Martinez (@dybucc) who did a
huge amount of the time64 work, as well as many of the platform fixes!

  • Improved real-world diffing performance substantially without changing the
produced diffs. On a corpus of real source file revisions, line diffs run
about 4x faster with Algorithm::Myers, 5x faster with
    Algorithm::Histogram, and 2.5x faster with Algorithm::Patience; word
diffs run about 2x faster. This comes from a faster line tokenizer, a
SipHash-1-3 content hash that consumes whole words (randomly keyed with
std), cheaper integer-keyed lookup tables, hashing only the changed middle
of Myers line diffs, flat occurrence tables in Histogram, and a gap buffer
in the compaction pass that was quadratic on diffs with many ops.
Allocation counts and peak memory dropped as well; in particular one sided
and heavily unbalanced inputs no longer build index structures proportional
to the larger side for Algorithm::Hunt, Algorithm::Histogram, and
    Algorithm::Patience.
  • Fixed Algorithm::Histogram overflowing the stack on inputs with many
scattered changes. Pending ranges are now tracked on the heap, so stack
usage no longer grows with the number of anchors. #105
  • Fixed TextMerge::labels writing carriage returns and newlines verbatim into
conflict markers, which let a label add lines to the output that looked like
merged content. Line terminators in labels are now replaced with spaces.

serde_json 1.0.152 preserves the sign of -0 in arbitrary_precision mode
(serde-rs/json#1346), so the YAML reader's -0 is now stored with the
lexeme -0 instead of 0. The invalid_literals test pinned the old,
sign-folding behavior and failed on the rust-patch update to 1.0.154.

The new behavior keeps the source spelling, so assert it, and require
serde_json 1.0.152 in morphir-core so a crates.io build cannot resolve
an older release that folds the sign.
