Workflow Failure

Workflow: SqlClient Issue Auto-Triage
Branch: main
Run: https://github.com/dotnet/SqlClient/actions/runs/34991102115

Warning

Task Could Not Be Completed: The agent reported that the task could not be performed due to an infrastructure or tool failure.

Reasons:

This is a structured incompletion signal (report_incomplete), not a real task outcome. Any other safe outputs emitted alongside this signal (e.g., comments) describe the failure state, not a completed review or action.

    Regression Not indicated

    Analysis

This issue was auto-created by the SqlClient Issue Auto-Triage agentic workflow after it reported an incomplete result on run 34991102115: while triaging issue #4691, the agent burned its single allowed add_comment call on a diagnostic/test invocation ("test comment") instead of posting the real triage summary, so the actual triage for #4691 was never posted. This is a workflow-tooling defect (safe-output quota misuse during debugging), not a SqlClient product bug — it affects the reliability of the auto-triage automation rather than the SqlClient library. Severity: P2 (impacts triage automation reliability, no user-facing product impact).

The workflow defect reported here is addressed by PR #4706

The agent's JSON comment preparation was blocked because jq was not allowed. While troubleshooting, it submitted a real test comment on #4691, consuming the one-comment quota before it could submit its triage summary.

#4706 allows the required JSON preparation tool, documents a single final-only submission path, and adds validation before publication to reject placeholders and incomplete summaries. It preserves the one-comment limit and failure reporting.

The PR is still open, so the repair is not yet active on main. #4693 is an overlapping earlier repair; consolidate that work with #4706 rather than merging both independently.

After deployment, verify a complete replacement summary on #4691 and only then remove the confirmed placeholder. This tracker remains open pending verification; the triage summary posted on this tracker itself is not recovery of the original affected issue.
