Summary

  • Remove the pictured location/topology banner from the planner UI, including its render call. Keep the deployment explanation in the workshop guide and retain catalog/exercise/error notices and target labels.
  • Preinstall the official DocumentDB for VS Code extension (ms-azuretools.vscode-documentdb) in both attendee and organizer devcontainer profiles.
  • Document that installing the extension does not create/connect a database automatically.

Verification

  • Official publisher/extension identifier verified against the Visual Studio Marketplace listing.
  • Offline tests: 48 passed, 1 existing Linux-only skip, 0 failures.
  • 46 documentation links checked.
  • Regression tests verify the banner is absent, configuration rendering still works, catalog notices remain, and both profiles request the official extension.

No database, cloud credential, notebook, billing, or security settings are changed by these repository changes. Existing Codespaces receive the extension on rebuild; the active Codespace will also receive a direct extension installation so no rebuild is required for the current session.
