fix(app): Back and Forward follow a moved pane and stay put for a removed PC - #804
Conversation
…oved PC From devswha#762's last review (CodeRabbit's outside-diff finding on the popstate handler), and a case found while using deep links: - A move gives a pane a new id. The address writer pushed it as another history entry, and an older entry naming the old id fell back to the workspace's row. The moves this tab saw are recorded (lib/paneMove.ts): the move is written over the pane's own entry, and Back to an older entry opens the pane under its new id. - Back to an entry for a PC removed since selected that PC and left the pane blank. It now stays on the pane shown, says the PC is not set up here (as a link to it does), and writes that pane over the entry. - Back or Forward that lands somewhere other than its entry named writes that place over the entry instead of pushing a new one, so the entries after it stay reachable by Forward. - Line 796: Validate the machine before queuing the link.create request for
history entries in the create-request flow; when the entry references a removed
PC, do not leave a request that can open a dialog on the selected PC.
Alternatively, clear the queued request in the machine-missing branch that calls
setHeaderNote.
- Line 800: Update the moved-link handling so it clears the original workspace
only when the moved pane exists in the snapshot; if that pane has closed, retain
the link’s original workspace and workspaceSlug so resolveLink can reopen the
surviving workspace during onPop.

The one red job is |
…ane opens its workspace From CodeRabbit's review of devswha#804: - Back to an entry that names a removed PC and the New workspace dialog queued the dialog before the PC was checked, so it opened on the PC shown. The PC is checked first. - Back to an entry from before a move, once the moved pane has closed, followed the new id with the entry's workspace dropped and opened nothing. followMoved (lib/deepLink.ts) follows the new id only while that pane is on the roster; otherwise the entry stays as written and its workspace opens, as for any closed pane. - Line 792: Update the popstate handling around `onPop` so it keeps the
destination pending when `machinesRef` is empty instead of selecting it through
`selectTarget` and clearing `pendingLink`; process the destination once the
roster is available so the existing missing-machine handling can resolve it.

From CodeRabbit's second review of devswha#804: with no PCs in yet, nothing could say an entry's PC was removed, so Back selected it and the app stayed on a PC with no roster. The entry now waits as a link opened with the page does: it lands against its PC's roster, or on this PC with the note once the list says its PC is gone. The deep-link script holds the PC list across a reload to check it. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_018AND7SgU9fTx9Qb6DPqnAs

The one red job this time is a different one: |
Change
Follow-up to #762. CodeRabbit's last review there left one finding open, outside the diff, on the
popstatehandler. Using deep links turned up a second case next to it, after a pane move.lib/paneMove.tsnow records, for this tab, the ids that moves give panes. The writer uses that record to write the new id over the pane's own entry. Thepopstatehandler follows an old id to the pane wherever it went.No new UI strings, and nothing changes for an entry that lands where it says.
Validation
bun run check fast: generated types, typecheck, build and unit tests pass. The unit tests include newpaneMovedTotests covering a chain of moves, another PC, an id kept by the move, and a cycle.bun run check browser: all scripts pass.scripts/deep-link-demo-regression.tshas two new checks:history.lengthis unchanged throughout.machineoff the address, and keeps the Forward entry.App.tsxchange reverted, the move check fails ("the moved pane's new id is written over its entry").🤖 Generated with Claude Code
