Summary

Preserve overlong international phone numbers instead of silently truncating them into different contact numbers.

The normalizer allowed 16 or 17 digits after +, then kept only the first 15. It now returns those invalid inputs unchanged, matching the existing passthrough contract. Valid international numbers, the 00 dialing prefix, local-number cleanup, and normalization of other fields retain their behavior. This remains best-effort formatting, not phone-number validation.

Verification

  • Real normalization regressions: three failures before the fix; all 19 boundary and passthrough cases pass afterward.
  • Full owned-fork qualification passed: 2,273 backend tests (134 skipped, eight deselected), 23 PostgreSQL integrity tests, 79 frontend/extension tests, and three browser regressions. Lint, typecheck, build, and exact-source guards passed.
  • Qualification run.
