Original image dimensions (width / height) as searchable features #21577

Description

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
In order to convert my color film negatives in Negadoctor, I scan them with a Minolta DiMAGE Scan Elite 5400 Scanner, a "free-hanging" film/slide holder scanner that doesn't flatten the film like a flatbed scanner. To adjust focus on the slightly bent film, the scanner automatically moves the holder towards or away from the sensor. This changes the file size of the resulting .dng file and - since Darktable's Crop module's presets (including the user-generated ones) are percentage-focused - this also changes the necessary size of the cropping in order to always produce the same-sized final image.
By experience, the scanner produces only three different file sizes, but they are randomly distributed.

  • 7800 x 5232
  • 7776 x 5216
  • 7776 x 5220 (possibly due to an earlier version of the Vuescan scanning software)

To assign a prepared crop preset to each of these three types (before adjusting its precise location), I have to sort all images by their original dimensions which are displayed in the Image Information window in Lighttable Mode. With thousands of scanned files, this can become extremely tedious.

Describe the solution you'd like
It should be possible to filter images by original image dimensions.
After all, Darktable can access this information in the Image Information window, but it is currently not available for any searching or filtering. For my own purposes, a slightly rounded value or size "range" would be sufficient.

Alternatives
I've tried filtering by aspect ratio instead, but since the focus adjustment is consistent via both width and height, the aspect ratio doesn't change, and thus no difference is revealed via this method.
