Add an option in the release target view to bypass all policies for a version on a
specific release target, instead of only at the environment level.
Current behavior
Policy bypass is configured at the environment level in the node graph. Bypassing there
applies to all environments — there is no way to bypass for a single target.
Problem
Environment-level bypass is too coarse. To push a specific version onto a single resource
(e.g. unblock or hotfix one cluster), you must disable policies across all environments,
which is far broader than intended and weakens the guarantees policies provide elsewhere.
Proposed behavior
In the deployments release target view, add a per-release-target action to bypass all
policies of a given version for that release target only (a single
deployment × environment × resource). Other release targets and environments continue to
evaluate policies normally.
Considerations
Permissions — bypassing policies is privileged and should be gated (RBAC / policy / OPA).
Auditability — record who bypassed, which version + release target, when, and why.
Open questions
Should per-release-target bypass coexist with environment-level bypass, or should env-level
become "bypass all release targets in this environment"?
Is a bypass one-shot (single reconcile / single version) or persistent until cleared?
Require a justification/reason string?
Bypass all policies, or allow selecting which policies to bypass?
