LOLCODE spec: DIFFRINT ... SMALLR OF/BIGGR OF comparison idioms contradict a literal reading #153
Found while marking the LOLCODE assignment (Fall 2026, 36 submissions). The quoted text is from lolcode/ and info/ on master.
spec/statements.rst defines DIFFRINT <x> AN SMALLR OF <x> AN <y> as x < y and ... BIGGR OF ... as x > y; impl/clarifications.rst (gt-and-lt) says the inversion relative to official LOLCODE is deliberate. Evaluated literally (SMALLR OF = min, DIFFRINT = !=) the first is x > y. About half the class pattern-matched the idiom, half evaluated literally, and staff clarifications went both ways; several pattern-matchers fired on the wrong shape (repeated operand differs).
Proposed fix: state that BIGGR OF/SMALLR OF/DIFFRINT are ordinary operators and the table is what they compute, or drop the table; either way give one worked example with numbers and its output.
