Community research and revival project for the Pioneer DJ CDJ-2000 series: the original CDJ-2000, the CDJ-2000NXS (Nexus) and the CDJ-2000NXS2 (Nexus 2).
These players are still the backbone of many clubs, but the hardware is ageing and official support is winding down. Our goal is to keep them alive, understood and hackable.
- Research: documenting the hardware, boot process, firmware structure and network protocols of all three generations
- Emulator: an open-source emulator for the CDJ-2000 series
- Firmware mods: community mods and patches for the CDJ-2000, Nexus and Nexus 2, distributed as patches and tools only
- Documentation: write-ups, findings and tooling for others to build on
- We do not host, share or link to original firmware images, encryption keys or other proprietary material. Our tools work on firmware you obtained yourself.
- All findings come from clean-room analysis of devices we own, for the purpose of interoperability and research.
- Nothing here is meant to bypass licensing or enable piracy.
- Modifying firmware can brick your player and void your warranty. Use at your own risk and never test on a unit you need for a gig.
Repositories, issues and discussions live in this organisation. Contributions, documentation and findings from your own units are welcome. Please never submit proprietary files or keys.
