Summary

  • Negative-cache failed Trakt lookups (429s, unresolved slugs, transient errors) and all-failed Reddit/PullPush searches for 60s, so the 5s poll loop stops redoing the work every cycle.
  • Add InitialLoadProgress so providers (Trakt, Reddit, Bluesky, Lemmy) report progress only on the first fetch per episode; retries and TTL refreshes are silent and no longer arm the frontend loading bar.

Observed on the live pod: Trakt 429s were re-attempted and re-ticked every cycle, flashing the bar.

Test plan

  • Regression tests for Trakt and Reddit fail without the fix, pass with it
  • Core tests pass; Infrastructure tests pass except the opt-in live Jellyfin test (unreachable from dev machine)

When Trakt rate-limited (429) slug resolution, the empty result was never
cached, so every 5s poll cycle retried the lookups and reported a progress
tick, re-arming the frontend loading bar. Failures are now cached for 60s.

All-failed searches (e.g. 429) returned an empty result without caching,
so each poll cycle redid the searches and re-ticked, flashing the loading
bar. Cache that outcome for 60s; confirmed misses keep the full TTL.
