macOS installer needs to put ODBC driver in path Library/ODBC/arrow-odbc/lib/libarrow_flight_sql_odbc.dylib before calling install/mac/install_odbc_ini.sh.
I think we'll want to get the installer (.pkg, .dmg, etc) and .dylib notarized by Apple during the release process so I've put in a request with ASF Infra requesting access. Unlike #49404, I think signing for macOS may be a manual process.
Hi @alinaliBQ, I think we've talked about doing the macOS installer as a .dmg. We could also do a .pkg and the type of cert we'd request from Apple differs based on which approach we use. Have you already decided on .dmg vs .pkg and do you know what's most common for ODBC users?
Good question @amoeba, my answer is .pkg and I am glad you asked. .pkg is the most common format for installing ODBC drivers on macOS. Although I was initially thinking of creating a .dmg, I now think .pkg macOS installer would be more suitable than a .dmg installer. Because .pkg format allows for more complex installation steps that are needed for macOS Driver registration.

Thanks @amoeba for sending out the request! I don't have access to the link https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-27695, but that's fine. I have raised the issue #49411 for macOS signing
