Safety makes freedom possible. When you feel safe, you can take creative risks, explore unfamiliar ideas, and try a different approach. That's the aixplain way: built with uncompromising safety and privacy, so you can design and code with total freedom and peace of mind.
Koder brings that idea to the work in front of you. Describe an app, work through a design, fix a stubborn bug, or understand an unfamiliar codebase. Choose a model, give it the tools it needs, and review what it produces.
| Your freedom | How Koder supports it |
|---|---|
| Put safety first | Use tool permissions and workspace trust to set access boundaries. Review changes and interrupt a run when needed. |
| Build your way | Start in plain language. Plan a feature, implement an interface, or work directly in code, from your terminal or desktop. |
| Choose your AI | Use aixplain's model catalog, the Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor plan you already pay for, another supported provider, or a local model. |
| Make the work yours | Bring project instructions, skills, and MCP tools. Resume saved sessions and review changes in your own project. |
The harness makes these pieces work together: models, tools, context, permissions, and the steps between a request and a result. You choose the setup that fits the task. Hosted models and services may charge for usage.
Useful AI needs clear boundaries. Koder gives you permissions for tool actions, workspace trust for project configuration, and changes you can inspect before relying on them.
- Permission checks: tool actions follow your configured policy. Inspect it with
koder inspectwhen connecting tools or opening an unfamiliar project. - Reviewable changes: follow the work, inspect file changes, and check test results before accepting an outcome. You can interrupt a run.
- Local storage: sessions and configuration are stored on your machine. Protect that local profile as you would your project files.
- Clear data boundaries: hosted providers receive the inputs sent to them. A configured local model can keep inference local; connected tools may still send data to external services.
- You approve actions in your accounts: when Omni wants to send, create, change or delete something through a connected account, it shows you the exact content and asks first, every time. There is no "always allow" for these.
- Zero data retention filter: pick ZDR only in the model picker, or run
koder models --zdr, to list only models the catalog reports as zero retention.
Choose your provider and tool settings to match the sensitivity of the task. See configuration and updates for local storage paths.
Keep the conversation, project files, terminal commands, and code review in one workspace. Go from a request to a diff you can inspect.
Stay close to your code with an interactive terminal interface, keyboard and mouse controls, and a CLI for scripts and automation.
Screenshots show the development interface. See the release notes for features in the current download.
Already pay for Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor? Use that plan in Koder. Koder runs each vendor's own CLI with the sign-in you already have, so there are no new keys to manage.
| Plan | What you need | How it runs |
|---|---|---|
| Claude (Pro, Max, Team) | Claude Code, signed in | A full Claude Code agent. Its tool use goes through Koder's permissions |
| ChatGPT (Plus, Pro, Business) | Codex CLI, signed in with codex login |
Codex with the models your plan offers |
| Cursor (paid plan) | Cursor's cursor-agent, signed in with cursor-agent login |
Cursor's agent over ACP |
Koder finds installed CLIs automatically, including ones behind version managers. Check where each one stands in Settings → Providers → Your subscriptions, or run:
koder providers subsEach shows Ready, Not signed in or Not installed, the account and plan, and the one command that fixes it. Usage counts against your plan's limits.
Switch to Omni in the desktop app, or run koder omni. Omni takes work off your plate: drafting, planning, making sense of documents and numbers, and working in the apps you use every day.
- Works in your accounts. Connect Gmail, Google Calendar, Slack, Jira, Linear and more in Personalize Omni → Connect your apps. Omni can read your inbox, check your calendar, draft and send email, and create or update tickets. Anything that sends, creates, changes or deletes is shown to you and approved one call at a time.
- Clear results. Emails, events, tickets and messages appear as clean cards, and a live status line shows what Omni is doing.
- Knows your aixplain. When you're signed in, Omni sees your team's agents, models, connections, knowledge bases and tools, so it can pick the right one. Browse them in Personalize Omni → Your aixplain.
- Yours to shape. Review, edit or forget saved memory, schedule recurring prompts, and add skills. Omni greets you by your verified account name and keeps its own workspace, separate from your code projects.
Connections are aixplain team assets. Verification and actions may use credits.

macOS and Linux
curl -fsSL https://github.com/aixplain/koder/releases/latest/download/install | bashWindows — PowerShell
irm https://github.com/aixplain/koder/releases/latest/download/install.ps1 | iexUse the PowerShell command on Windows. The installer places koder in ~/.koder/bin and adds it to your user PATH. Open a new terminal after installation.
CLI builds are available for macOS arm64/x64, Linux arm64/x64, and Windows x64. To inspect the installer before running it, download install or install.ps1.
- Open a project. Choose a folder in the desktop app, or run
koderfrom your project directory. - Connect a model. Sign in to aixplain or configure a supported provider. An aixplain API key can also provide model access; account billing requires sign-in.
- Give it a concrete task. Describe the outcome and any constraints. Review proposed actions, answer questions, and inspect the resulting diff.
cd your-project
koderTry a task like:
Find why this test fails, explain the cause, make the smallest fix, and run the relevant tests.
For aixplain account access from the CLI:
koder login
koder whoami
koder modelsYou can manage providers with koder providers. Available models and tools depend on your provider, account, and configuration.
A model supplies the reasoning. Koder's harness connects it to the work: files to inspect, tools to use, permissions to follow, and session history to carry forward. It lets an agent run a command, read the result, and use that evidence in its next step.
For you, that means a task can move from investigation to edits to tests in the same conversation. You can follow the work, answer a question, interrupt a run, and inspect the result.
| Capability | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Code and test | Read and search files, edit code, execute project commands, and inspect their output. |
| Plan and delegate | Use the planning agent to investigate a change, then switch to implementation. Delegate focused work to subagents. |
| Keep context | Resume saved sessions and provide project instructions through AGENTS.md. |
| Choose models | Use aixplain's catalog, your Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor plan, or another supported provider. Every model shows its maker's logo. |
| Act in your apps | Omni reads and acts through connected accounts, with your approval for every change. |
| Connect tools | Add MCP servers, skills, and plugins for the tools your workflow needs. |
| Review actions | Configure permissions and workspace trust, inspect effective policy, and review file changes. |
| Use credits | View the selected team's wallet and manage billing through Stripe-hosted pages. |

Run koder --help or koder <command> --help for the options supported by your installed version.
Open Settings → Account on desktop, use /billing in the terminal interface, or run:
koder billing
koder billing top-up --amount 10
koder billing add-cardKoder shows the selected team before opening checkout. Payment details and final confirmation stay on Stripe's hosted page. Return to Koder and refresh the wallet to see the updated balance. Managing billing requires an eligible signed-in team role; an inference API key alone does not grant billing access.
Use AGENTS.md in your repository for project instructions. Global configuration normally lives in ~/.config/koder/koder.json or koder.jsonc; XDG environment settings can change these paths. Sessions and other local state are stored separately under ~/.local/share/koder.
Update the CLI and check its version:
koder upgrade
koder --versionDesktop users can use the app's update controls or download the current installer. Release archives include SHA256SUMS for checksum verification. The aixplain-code command remains available as a compatibility alias.
- Report a bug with your version, operating system, reproduction steps, and expected result.
