What this changes

The Community & Support page is reorganised into four sections, all in its second header row: The idea · Support · What it stands on · Give back.

Support: four channels, independent of each other, no step numbers, as a plain two-column list:

  • GitHub issues (with the one exception, security reports via SECURITY.md)
  • Slack channel
  • Documentation
  • Transparency: the code and the samples

Below it, its own box, "Need more? Write to us": we hope it never comes to this; the goal is an ABAP team so at home with abap2UI5 that support is as unnecessary as a support call for a selection screen or a transport into P. For somebody looking over the first screen, explaining a design or sitting in on a go-live, the mail address, and we see what makes sense. One request: no glossy slide deck full of buzzwords. There is none here, and that is the point.

What it stands on (new section): open source and it stays that way; built on abapGit and abaplint; UI5 itself in the browser, not a copy; a public test on every claim, with verified on as the list.

What you can give back (own section, "Free to use is not the same as free to make"): send a pull request, answer somebody, share an add-on, say what you build, add your company under Who runs it, sponsor the work.

main is merged in; npm run check passes (10 tests).

Half the length, proof before the pitch, the downsides next to the
upsides: what a decision maker checks first, in the order they check it.

- Order: use cases, who runs it, where it fits and where it does not,
governance, cost, platform, AI, FAQ, get started. Add-ons dropped (a
developer topic, linked), No strings folded into Cost, the week and the
ways in merged into one closing block.
- Who runs it: "In production" and "Partner" tags instead of ABAP release
numbers, the figures a reader can check (since December 2022, 25+
contributors, release 1.148 in October 2026) with their source; the
five references a manager recognizes first, the other fifteen folded.
- Comparison: three rows where abap2UI5 is not ahead (standard
transactional apps, offline and real-time, support), a "Where something
else fits better" box next to the reasons, and no superlative headings.
- Support, as SUPPORT.md states it: community, best effort, no support
contract on offer today; the FAQ and the cost sheet say so.
- Cost: a five-line sheet (three zeros, developer time, partner services)
beside the price card; the calculator folds under a summary; the
giving-back note moves to a short strip before the foot.
- Hero: the grid-table example in the current theme instead of the grey
walkthrough; the primary action opens the example apps, not the
  playground sandbox.
- Platform in manager terms: no ICF, sy-uname or user exit in the text.
- Mobile: the section links stay as a scrolling row under the header; a
comparison row becomes a card with the column name on every cell.
- Footer: build date and the contact address.
- Tests: the visible text stays under 2,600 words, the comparison keeps
its even rows and the support wording, every <td> carries data-th.

The company no longer exists: its row under Who runs it and its 2024
blog reference go. Logali Group is tagged Training, and the cost sheet,
the fit box and the FAQ name training and certification instead of
partners.

Live data on a connected screen is what the framework does; a device
without a network is what it is not for.

Support is an issue or a pull request on GitHub, from anyone, at any
time, and that is the channel to prefer: transparent, and where answers
reach everybody. An organization that needs more writes to the
maintainers. What is not on offer is an SLA in a contract; "no support"
and "best effort" are gone, and the test refuses them.

The header button says Try it out and opens the playground; the hero
keeps the example apps.

One faint brand wash on the hero and the closing band instead of coral,
sky and mint; the headline accent in solid brand red instead of a red to
orange gradient; the figures in ink with the price as the one accent;
the price card dark instead of an orange gradient; neutral dots on the
window bar; the giving-back strip on the grey band. The brand red stays
for buttons, kickers and one accent per block.

Anyone can write in the Slack channel or open a GitHub issue at any
time; the ways in get a Slack door and a mail door for more, planned
together.

The hero shows the sales-orders app with its Explain This Data panel
open, rendered from the playground at 2x. The eight use-case cards are
re-rendered the same way, cropped to 2:1 and to their content, so the
box shows a filled screen rather than the empty canvas under a short
one; the card box is 2:1, anchored top centre.

From a look at what SAP Community, user groups and consultancies name
in 2024 to 2026: a comparison row on time to productivity (an afternoon
against weeks of CDS, RAP and tooling), no training project before the
S/4HANA project and the honest line that developers still learn UI5's
controls, a FAQ on user acceptance after SAP GUI, the example catalogue
in figures, and the skill a team keeps.

A comparison row on what a click costs, a reason in "Why teams choose"
and a sharper FAQ answer: no frontend logic, no OData, no app bundle,
the generic shell loaded once, the changed data only.

The performance point pushed it over; the duplicates around it go,
and the governance table loses its one redundant row.

A section on the open-source side: MIT and no owner who could close
it, help in public, abapGit and abaplint underneath and worth
supporting, add-ons to share, a post on LinkedIn, sponsoring. It
replaces the giving-back strip and joins the navigation.

Who runs it says that many more installations exist than the list
shows, and ends with a dashed "Your company here" card: one row by
pull request or by mail.

The word limit moves to 2,800 for the new section.

links down to it.

The sheet beside the price says what the calculator said, in five
lines; the folded calculator, its script and its styles go, and the
page now ships no script at all (the test holds it to none). The
price card is white with the zero in brand red instead of a dark
block.

The four facts under the cost and the six community items are plain
two-column lists with a rule between them instead of boxes; the price
card loses its shadow and its figure shrinks a step.

Five governance points in two columns, three AI points in three, each
with its mark and a rule between, no boxes. Cards stay where a
screenshot, a step or a way in needs one.

The hero names the ABAP team, and says what an app is: an ordinary
class in ADT or SE80, checked by ATC, carried by a transport. The
business logic stays in ABAP, next to the data - in the hero, the
tile, a comparison row and the security heading. Performance is named
in the comparison row and the reason that argue it; the governance
section is "Security and governance" and "Security" in the
navigation, and says that nothing of the app runs in the browser.

The word ceiling moves to 4,000 for now: everything goes in first,
the trimming pass comes later.

The header is Home, a Sections menu (a <details>, no script), About,
FAQ and Support, with LinkedIn and the playground on the right. The
About page carries the support ladder (in the open first, more by
mail, security reports) and everything "Join the community" said;
the home page keeps a teaser. The canonical address follows the page;
a test holds the about page to no script and resolving links.

The hero shows one ABAP class with the app it produces on a phone in
front of it, composed from the real source and a real render. Under
the use cases, the same app on a phone, a tablet and a desktop, in
frames drawn in CSS around playground renders: one app, no build per
device. Under Where it runs, the three SAP operating models, with the
public cloud marked: clean core is mandatory there and the same class
runs, no rewrite.

A white editor with blue keywords, line numbers and an Eclipse tab,
the real main method of the sales-orders class; the handheld with the
app it produces overlaps its corner on the right. Light stage, so it
sits on the page rather than in a dark block. The headline runs the
full width above it.

…, the FAQ in groups

The header is Home, FAQ, Community & Support, with LinkedIn and the
playground on the right; under it a second row with the sections of
the current page, scrolling sideways on a phone. The dropdown is gone.

The About page becomes Community & Support (/community/) and opens
with the idea: why open source is the right model for a framework on
SAP - no owner, transparent by construction, built with its users,
standing on open shoulders - then the support ladder and what to give
back.

The FAQ is grouped: risk and support, where it fits, team and skills,
landscape and tooling, performance and users. The headline breaks
after "UI5 apps for ABAP,". "Ordinary" gives way to "regular" and
"plain".

Fifteen questions in five groups at /faq/, with the groups as the
second header row. The home page keeps a teaser at #the-objections,
because that id is an address other sites link to. The header's FAQ
entry and the footer point at the page; a test holds it to no script
and to the questions.
