- Around line 215-219: Update the response.json() error handling in the
pull-request lookup flow around the catch block to distinguish an aborted
request from a JSON parse failure. Report aborts as body-read timeouts, while
retaining the existing “body that is not JSON” message for parse failures and
exit code 10 for both.

- Line 220: Update the response parsing catch around response.json() to use the
“body that is not JSON” message only when the error is a SyntaxError; report
other non-timeout failures with their actual cause in the “response body could
not be read” message and preserve exit code 10. Anchor the change to the
existing response.status error-message branch.

🏆 Season 4 CLI Improvement Bonus: entry recorded. Thanks, @PugarHuda! To be counted, this PR needs the following by Oct 29, 11:59 PM PT:

…request readGithubRunContext matched the deployed commit against every pull request whose head is that commit, open or not, so a redeploy of a merged PR's head (or a platform deploying main after a rebase/fast-forward merge) was gated as that PR: credits spent and a github-pr-N environment cloned for a PR that no longer exists. Only an open pull request is a gate target, as the code's own comment and DOCUMENTATION.md say. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
…survives a non-JSON reply
The GET /commits/{sha}/pulls call had no signal, so a GitHub API (or proxy) that
never answers hung ci run until the runner's job timeout, ignoring
--request-timeout; and a 200 with an HTML body (proxy sign-in, captive portal)
threw from response.json() as an uncaught exception (exit 1). The lookup now
uses the resolved request timeout (flag, env, or the 30s default) and both cases
are a typed CLIError with exit 10, like every other transient network failure.

…is a gate target The single-open-PR fallback could still gate an open PR that merely contains the commit when the PR whose head it is was already merged (TestSprite#550 scope). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

What does this PR do?
Fixes both accepted issues in
src/lib/github-context.ts, in the scope the maintainer set.#550 —
ci runondeployment_statusgated a closed or merged pull request.no_pull_request: skipped with a::notice::, exit 0. That covers a closed or merged PR whose head is the commit, and an open PR that only contains the commit.exact[0] ?? (open.length === 1 ? open[0] : undefined)). Without that change, a merged PR plus one open PR branched off the same commit would still gate the open PR.#551 — the PR lookup ignored
--request-timeoutand crashed on a non-JSON reply.listPullsForCommitnow passesAbortSignal.timeout(<resolved request timeout>).ci runresolves the budget with the sameresolveRequestTimeoutMsthat every other call uses; the default is 30s. A timeout becomes aCLIErrorwith exit 10 and the message "GitHub did not answer within Ns"..json()parse is guarded. A 200 with an HTML body (from a proxy or captive portal) now exits 10 with a clear message instead ofUNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION.Related issue

The tests are in
src/lib/github-context.test.ts. Each one below fails onmain(checked by running them against themainsources: 4 failed, 8 passed):no_pull_request. A closed PR with that head plus an open PR that only contains the commit also returnsno_pull_request.requestTimeoutMsand asserts < 5s).The existing test "preferring the exact head" (an open PR with the exact head next to another open PR) still gates the exact one.
