Season 4 CLI Improvement Bonus

  • I'm entering this PR for the Season 4 CLI Improvement Bonus

What does this PR do?

A caller deadline currently stops an in-flight request but does not stop retry backoff. For example, test wait --timeout 1 waits the full six-second Retry-After, beyond the existing one-second budget plus two-second transport cushion.

Pass the caller signal through all three retry paths (transport, edge HTTP status, and API envelope), compose it with shutdown, preserve the abort reason, and remove listeners on settlement. The helper also settles promptly when an injected sleeper ignores cancellation. The existing transport cushion and exit codes are unchanged.

This implementation is ready for review. The issue is still awaiting maintainer triage and assignment; this PR does not claim acceptance or bypass the contribution gate.

Validation

  • npm run test:e2e: 103 passed, 1 skipped (10 files); local facade/S3/tunnel fixtures only.
  • npm run typecheck, npm run build, npm run lint, npm run format:check: passed.
  • npm run test:coverage: 4,590 passed, 2 skipped; 89.69% statements, 84.78% branches, 83.16% functions, 91.91% lines.
  • Four new regressions cover all retry paths, abort-reason preservation, no extra fetch, timer/listener cleanup, and a cancellation-unaware injected sleeper.
  • Compiled CLI against a loopback fixture: rate-limit case improves from 6.175 s to 3.157 s (exit 7); stalled-request control remains about 3.17 s. Dummy credentials only; no paid jobs.

Bug fix. Discord / GitHub: luckyzd.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Canceling a request during a retry delay now stops the wait and prevents another attempt. Caller cancellation preserves its reason; an already-fired shutdown takes precedence.
    • Cancellation settles the request even if the retry wait never completes, and signal listeners are cleaned up afterward.

Walkthrough

HTTP retry waits now respond to caller cancellation on transport, edge-status, and retryable API error paths. The caller’s abort reason is preserved, and shutdown cancellation retains precedence. Tests cover timer cancellation, prevented retries, and listener cleanup.

Explanation

The PR meets the coding requirements in #403. src/lib/http.ts passes the caller signal through transport, edge-status, and API-envelope retry waits. The retry helper composes caller cancellation with shutdown, preserves abort reasons, prevents another attempt after cancellation, and cleans up timers and listeners. src/lib/http.test.ts covers the three retry paths, shutdown precedence, reason preservation, cleanup, and a cancellation-unaware sleeper. The reported validation keeps the transport cushion and exit codes unchanged.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The reported changes are limited to src/lib/http.ts and src/lib/http.test.ts. The production changes implement #403. The tests directly verify the requested retry cancellation behavior. No unrelated feature, API, output, or dependency change is identified.

Explanation

No functions found in the changed files to evaluate docstring coverage. Skipping docstring coverage check. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 0 functions across 2 files.

Comment thread src/lib/http.ts Outdated
Keep process interruption ahead of caller timeouts when both signals have already fired. Add six public-request regressions for transport, edge and API retry paths with SIGINT/SIGTERM exit codes.

Validation: six regressions failed before the fix; 81 HTTP tests, 4596 full-suite tests and 103 local E2E tests pass. Typecheck, build, lint and formatting pass.
