Adds four "DebateOwl vs X" pages from Task B of the 1 November spec. Each page has a different layout:

  • /debateowl-vs-debatable (voice round vs written prep). One evening on both products, laid out against a clock (0:00, 0:03, 0:15, 0:25). A "What you are holding at 0:30" pair follows, then the rest of the evening and a list of where Debatable is the better pick (live human opponents, 15+ languages, the leaderboard, $10 a year for voice).
  • /debateowl-vs-prilo (price and formats ledger). A ten-line table covering formats, practice round, cross-examination, case writing, delivery, languages, monthly price, yearly price, free trial and what is free without a plan. Two "Pick Prilo if…" / "Pick DebateOwl if…" paragraphs follow it.
  • /debateowl-vs-debatethis (ladder game vs coach). A ladder/coach pair, then four questions a new debater asks. Each answer ends with "Start with DebateThis" or "Start with DebateOwl" (two each). A first-week plan that uses both closes the page.
  • /debateowl-vs-kialo-edu (for the classroom). A table of mapping an argument vs preparing to speak it, then a 50-minute lesson with no student accounts: Kialo Edu map, Guided Voting, then a live debate on DebateOwl's free timer and flow sheet. Club debaters take the map into the app as homework.

Every page answers its question in the opening box, links to / and once to /best-ai-for-debate, shows the pricing sentence once (no free plan, 3-day trial, then $5/month), and ends with a dated source list. I checked the DebateOwl claims against the code: Sparring formats in packages/core/src/sparring/formats.ts and timer presets in src/lib/free-tools/formats.ts. The rest (voice rounds, Crossfire, Attack, Factoids, exports, the 13+ age line, no yearly plan, trial without a card) uses wording the earlier vs pages already state.

Registered in the home page Compare row (GuideHub.tsx, with chip labels in en, es and hu), EXTRA_RELATED["best-ai-debate-tools"], COMPARE_LINKS (llms.txt), SIBLINGS and check_templating.py. The four pages link to each other in a ring. The sitemap gives each one <lastmod>2026-11-02</lastmod> from dateModified. On the home page, only the Compare row changed. This PR doesn't touch /best-ai-for-debate or the hero subtitle, which another thread is editing.

One guard change: src/test/seo/guide-content.test.ts allows the byline and disclosure lines word for word, and now also accepts the 2 November dates, as it already did for 29 and 31 October.

Competitors

None dropped. All four could be checked on their own live sites today. A few notes:

  • Debatable: itsdebatable.com and debateai.com both redirect to debatable.com, so the page cites debatable.com. Its homepage says "10 free rounds to start", but its pricing page says the free plan is "10 free AI voice minutes after sign-in, about one round". The page quotes the pricing page.
  • Prilo: prilo.ai serves its text through JavaScript, so I read it in headless Chromium. The NSDA and sign-up pages name no free trial. The page reports that and claims nothing more. Prilo's own copy uses words the jargon rule bans, so the page paraphrases them.
  • DebateThis: /play (challenge a friend without signing up) returned HTTP 500 today. The page makes no claim that depends on it.
  • Kialo Edu: none of the pages I read mention AI. The page says so in those terms and does not claim Kialo has no AI.

Checks

This is a draft for Adam to review the copy. The changes are generated pages, generator scripts, a home page link row, chip labels and one guard allow-list. After deploy, run IndexNow per the spec.

Each page has its own shape: one evening on each product, clock by
clock (Debatable); a ledger of formats, languages, prices and trial,
then a "pick X if" for each (Prilo NSDA); four questions a new debater
asks, each ending in where to start (DebateThis); and a classroom page
with a 50-minute lesson that uses both (Kialo Edu).

Competitor facts come from each product's own site, checked on
2 November 2026, and each page lists its sources. itsdebatable.com and
debateai.com both forward to debatable.com, so that is the site cited.

The pages are in the home page's Compare row (with chip labels in
English, Spanish and Hungarian), the /best-ai-debate-tools related
links, llms.txt and the templating check, and link to each other in a
ring. The guide-content guard allows the byline and disclosure lines
dated 2 November, as it does for 29 and 31 October.
