The landing page at /, /hu and /es now has much less text, and on a phone the first screen shows Ollie, the headline, one line under it, one "Start trial" button and three mint check chips. At 390 px the English page went from about 15,250 px tall to about 5,100 px.

What changed

The hero keeps the H1 word for word. The long subheadline is now its first sentence only ("Prepare cases and practice rounds with AI."). The "New in 2026" banner, the "View pricing" button and the three plan boxes are gone. The trial, no-card and cancel facts sit under the button as small chips with a mint check. Below lg the product preview is hidden and Ollie (the same point pose, still) stands above the headline. From lg up the hero keeps the preview with Ollie pointing at it.

The page drops three sections: What's new, Active Grounding (DeepDive) and Use cases. Their content repeated the feature list. The navbar loses its "What's new" link and lists Features, How it works and Pricing in page order.

The other sections are shorter:

  • The short answer is a card. On phones the answer folds to three lines with a "Read more" button. The full text stays in the HTML, so the FAQ JSON-LD and the Hungarian parity test still find it. Its two links are now chips.
  • Features are icon tiles, two across on phones with the title only. From sm up each tile has one short line. All 11 tools stay.
  • How it works is three compact rows on phones and three columns from md up, each with one short line.
  • Pricing cards show three checked lines each, without the subtitle, badges and descriptions. The no-free-plan and prices-as-of note stays as small print.
  • Debate guides and free tools keep every link (the home page still links to 27 sitemap pages). On phones each group is one sideways-scrolling row of chips, and from md up the chips wrap.
  • The FAQ and final CTA lose their subtitles and badge.

The Hungarian and Spanish catalogs carry the same shorter copy, translated with the app's glossary terms ("eset", "indítvány", "MI", "Vitapárbaj"). The keys that are no longer used are removed from all three catalogs.

What did not change

SEO tags and structured data are untouched: index.html, src/lib/seo/, src/prerender/, meta, JSON-LD, canonical, hreflang and favicons. That keeps this PR clear of #249. The strings that feed the JSON-LD (shortAnswer.*, faq.* and the features.<tool> names) are unchanged. #short-answer is still the first H2, the heading levels still go H1, H2, H3, and the #features, #pricing, #how-it-works, #faq and #guide-hub-title anchors still exist. Routes, CTA destinations and the sitemap are the same. src/locales/tools/*.json is untouched because #249 edits it, so tools:home.freeTools is now unused and can be removed after #249 merges. The only change in src/locales/*.json near the footer block #249 edits starts nine lines below its hunk.

Screenshots

Before and after at 390, 820 and 1440 px, plus /hu at 390, are in ~/.t3/scratch/landing-redesign-shots/ on the VPS.

Page heights, before and after:

  • / at 390 px: 15,251 px, now 5,124 px
  • / at 820 px: 10,475 px, now 5,293 px
  • / at 1440 px: 8,254 px, now 4,956 px
  • /hu at 390 px: 14,637 px, now 4,978 px

At 390 px the hero button now ends 400 px from the top (467 px on /hu), inside the first screen.

Preview

Vercel preview on debate-navigator (production data, behind the Vercel login): https://debate-navigator-arfwzkh1w-adam-gaborjanis-projects.vercel.app. It is a Preview deployment of c8425ef. Through vercel curl, /, /hu and /es return 200 with the new hero copy.

Verification

npm run verify passed locally at c8425ef: docs check, lint (eslint, knip, repo rules), typecheck, 682 unit tests, 30 collaboration tests, 483 edge tests, the build with check-site and check-links (no problems, the home page links to 27 sitemap pages), the offline service-worker test and 47 Playwright smoke tests. I also opened the built / and /hu at 390, 820 and 1440 px, with no page errors. Every section reveals on scroll, the phone hero button sits inside the first screen, and on a 390 px touch viewport "Read more" opens the answer from 78 px to 364 px with aria-expanded="true" and "Show less" folds it back. The button is 44 px tall.

GitHub Actions is out of minutes, so this is a local pass on the PR head, not a CI pass. I did not drive the verify-debatelab recipes, because the landing page has no recipe and the localization recipe only needs the "Start trial" link, which is unchanged.

On a phone the first screen now holds Ollie, the H1, one line, the
Start trial button and three checked chips. The hero copy is the first
sentence of the old subheadline; the announcement, second button and
plan boxes are gone, and the product preview shows from lg up.

What's new, Active Grounding and Use cases are removed: they repeated
the feature list. Features are icon tiles, How it works and Pricing
carry one short line per item, the short answer folds to three lines
on phones, and the guide links become chip rows that scroll sideways
on phones. Every link, anchor, heading level and JSON-LD source string
stays. Unused keys leave all three catalogs; hu and es get the same
shorter copy.

At 390 px the English page goes from about 15,250 px to 5,120 px.
