Fixes two problems reported on a Switch OLED (sysCFW 23.0.1, latest Atmosphère): audio cuts out once the game is running, and the library shows only 40 of about 150 games.

Audio cuts out after a few seconds. The output timeline holds 25 segments and is trimmed by audoutGetAudioOutPlayedSampleCount. Real hardware doesn't advance that counter reliably. In a v0.0.9 session it stayed at played=0 the whole time, and the summary shows drops=6270 against rx=6222. Once 25 segments had been queued, playback_timeline.full() silently dropped every later buffer. Short audio at stream start (Steam's boot sounds) still played; nothing after it did. The pipeline now counts played samples from the audout buffers it gets back as released. That count only goes up, and it no longer depends on the hardware counter. A new audio_pipeline/stuck_counter test feeds 120 packets while the stubbed counter stays at 0. Before the fix only 25 were appended; now all 120 are.

Library stops at 40 games. The library came from the panels/Library persisted query, which returns one panel with no pagination. It now uses the same paginated apps GraphQL query as the OpenNOW desktop client. That query filters on variants.gfn.library.status notEquals NOT_OWNED, sorts by last played, fetches 60 games per page, follows endCursor for up to 50 pages, and retries once on a 401 response. The panel query hashes and the panel parser are removed. Catalog and library pages now share one page parser, which applies the existing size, cursor-advance and error checks.

Testing: 147 host checks and 95 streaming checks pass, both normally and under ASan/UBSan. The Switch NRO builds and contains all 51 embedded resources. Neither fix has been tested on hardware yet. I couldn't run the library query against a real account with a large library, so the 40-game cap is inferred from the missing pagination and from the desktop client's working query.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Improved library loading for large catalogs by retrieving results across multiple pages and combining duplicate entries. Catalog results continue loading until no further pages are available.
    • Improved audio playback reliability when the system’s playback progress counter stops updating, helping prevent gaps, late packets, and dropped audio.

📝 Walkthrough

The catalog now fetches library results through paginated GraphQL requests and parses pagination metadata. The audio pipeline now tracks samples released from output buffers instead of relying on the hardware played-sample counter.

Changes: Library catalog pagination

Layer / File(s) Summary
Library page parsing and request
app/src/gfn/catalog.cpp, tests/catalog_response_test.cpp
A shared AppsPage parser returns games and pagination metadata. Library request construction specifies a cursor, page size, sorting, and ownership filtering. Tests check request fields and parsed page data.
Paginated library fetch
app/src/gfn/catalog.cpp
Library retrieval sends GraphQL POST requests with a 4 MiB response limit and a 50-page cap. Each page retries once after HTTP 401 session recovery. Games are merged by ID, and fetching stops when there is no next cursor.

Audio played-sample tracking

Layer / File(s) Summary
Released-sample tracking and test
app/src/stream/audio/AudioPipeline.cpp, tests/audio_pipeline_test.cpp, scripts/test-streaming-host.sh
The pipeline counts samples when it reclaims non-free output buffers and sets played samples to the lesser of released and submitted samples. The added stuck_counter scenario tests 120 packets while the played-sample counter reports zero.

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to e3333

The library pagination change is mergeable with bounded risk, but a two-page fetch test would give confidence that games beyond the first page are returned.

Add an integrated pagination regression test for FetchLibraryGames.

tests/catalog_response_test.cpp checks BuildLibraryRequestBody and ParseAppsPage separately. Its hasNextPage: true fixture does not call FetchLibraryGames or assert that a second page is fetched and merged. Add a focused caller-path test with two page responses, and assert that the second page's game is returned.
