Image version: `8.8.0` (based on OpenWrt 25.12.4)

.. rubric:: New Features

- Rebased NethSecurity on OpenWrt 25.12.4 and switched package management from `opkg` to `apk`.
- Monitoring now stores metrics in VictoriaMetrics and automatically uses persistent storage when available.
- Alerts are now accessibile inside the web interface.
- Preserved Bash history across reboots and enabled persistent `/var` when storage is available.
- Added Avahi (mDNS) package to the NethSecurity reposistory.
- Added the firewall `DON'T TRACK` action.
- Several features previously limited to subscription-based versions are now available in the Community edition.

- Updated Snort with vectorscan to improve performance.
- Updated OpenVPN to 2.7.4.
- Improved package repository handling and signing for the new base image.
- Netdata is no longer installed by default; legacy controller dashboards can still restore it manually.
- DHCP leases are now persisted if local storage is available, preventing loss of leases on reboot.
- Changes to Threat Shield DNS local list are now applied using the commit button, like all other Threat Shield options.

.. rubric:: Bug Fixes

- DNS/DHCP failures now surface clearer troubleshooting information: if dnamsq fails to start, the Web Interface
will display an alert.
- Adblock no longer restarts with empty lists after repeated blocklist or allowlist edits.
- Traffic logging options are shown consistently in the firewall UI.
- IPSec tunnel can now use restart dpd_action.
