Thanks for this. The nscale mocks themselves look right: workflow render --platform nscale --gpu-arch {b200,gb300} now detects platform nscale with the correct architecture and applies nscale-gated overrides. Two things need to change before merge.
1. Two render goldens are stale, so go test ./pkg/render/ fails
--- FAIL: TestRenderErrors/render-errors/bad-platform-gpu
--- FAIL: TestRenderErrors/render-errors/no-flags
Both goldens embed the available: ... list that listAvailable() builds from pkg/render/nodes/, so adding the two mocks changes them too:
pkg/render/testdata/render-errors/bad-platform-gpu/expected.jsonpkg/render/testdata/render-errors/no-flags/expected.json
Regenerating them with TESTUTIL_UPDATE_EXPECTED=true go test ./pkg/render/ should add nscale-b200, nscale-gb300 to the list and change nothing else.
2. akamai is no longer blocked, and Closes #538 would close the issue with it unfixed
#537 has merged, so the reason for leaving akamai out no longer holds. With this branch merged onto current main, nvcrectl workflow render --platform akamai --gpu-arch rtxpro6000 still fails with no mock nodes for akamai-rtxpro6000. #538 lists that pair explicitly, but Closes #538 closes the issue as soon as this merges, whatever the follow-up plan is. Either:
- add
pkg/render/nodes/akamai-rtxpro6000.yamlhere, with alinode://providerID and theNVIDIA-RTX-PRO-6000-Blackwell-Server-Editionlabel, same asgcp-rtxpro6000.yaml, and update the three goldens above to match; or - change
Closes #538toRefs #538so the issue stays open for the follow-up.
Nits (non-blocking)
- No render test for the new mocks.
pkg/render/testdata/render/already hasembedded-aws-h100andembedded-onprem-{b300,gb300}. Addingembedded-nscale-b200andembedded-nscale-gb300would show that each mock detects as platformnscalewith the right architecture and that an nscale-gated override applies.list-availableonly shows that the files exist. - The
--platformhelp now lists platforms that still fail offline. It printstogetherai, forge, akamai, but--platform forge --gpu-arch gb300(for example) still fails withno mock nodes. Deriving the list fromNamesList()is what #538 asked for, so this is fine for now. The other option #538 offers, falling back torender.SyntheticProviderIDplus thenvidia.com/gpu.productlabel when no mock exists, would close the gap for every platform. That fits the follow-up. - The
mock templates:list in--gpu-archis still hardcoded.b200was added by hand, which is the same kind of drift theNamesList()change removes for--platform. Building it fromlistAvailable()(the arch suffixes, deduplicated) would keep it in sync.

Thanks @akhil9tiet for turning these around so quickly, and for regenerating the goldens and adding the akamai mock. I checked against current Two small things, if you don't mind:
Thanks again! |

Description refreshed — the akamai-out-of-scope and go-test lines are gone, since this repo squash-merges. On the follow-up issue for the SyntheticProviderID fallback, I'll check and get back to you. |

I built this head and ran it rather than just reading it. workflow render --platform nscale --gpu-arch b200, --gpu-arch gb300 and --platform akamai --gpu-arch rtxpro6000 all render, each annotating detected-platform and detected-gpu-architecture correctly, and go test ./pkg/render/ passes. The three mock YAMLs match their siblings byte for byte in shape, and the nscale:// and linode:// prefixes are exactly what nodePlatform switches on at pkg/controller/workflow_detect.go:63 and :65. platform.Names() returns a slice literal at pkg/platform/platforms.go:32, so NamesList() ordering is deterministic and the two goldens that embed ValidateFlag's message are generated from the same helper. The golden updates are pure data. This is good as is.
One leftover, the same drift this PR exists to remove. docs/cli-reference/workflow.md:21 still carries the hand-written list aws, gcp, azure, oci, mistral, onprem, forge, which is the literal pkg/render/render.go:98 just dropped. The binary built from this head prints aws, gcp, azure, oci, onprem, togetherai, mistral, forge, nscale, akamai. The sibling pages already list all ten: docs/cli-reference/certification.md:93 and docs/cli-reference/workloadrun.md:72. Line 22 of the same page is stale the same way, listing mock templates h100, b300, gb200, gb300, rtxpro6000 without the b200 this PR adds to the flag hint, and nscale-b200 now exists. Worth copying the ten-name list from certification.md:93 onto line 21 and adding b200 to line 22.

@ndipebot Good catch — docs/cli-reference/workflow.md:21 now carries the ten-platform list from certification.md:93, and line 22 adds b200 to the mock-template list, matching the flag hint this PR introduces. |

In reply to CodeRabbit's review above ('Do not advertise TogetherAI for offline workflow rendering') — no change here: TogetherAI stays listed intentionally. It's one of the platform values the controller's detection returns (pkg/platform/platforms.go), and the CLI flag help derives from that same set so help text and accepted values can't drift apart — it must stay accepted for --dry-run (online) mode too. Mock templates only cover the platform+arch combos listed in the docs; a missing combo fails loudly with 'no mock nodes for X-Y' plus the available list, so nothing is silently misrepresented. Removing it from help/docs would break the help/acceptance invariant. |

Both lines I flagged are fixed properly. I built nvcrectl at 05881eb4 and compared workflow render --help to the table: the --platform row is the ten names from platform.Names() in the same order, and the --gpu-arch mock list matches the architectures that actually exist across pkg/render/nodes/, which I derived from the file names rather than from the help string. certification.md:93 and workloadrun.md:72 carry the same ten names, so the three pages agree.
The merge from main only touched docs/cli-reference/workflow.md on the PR side, so nothing of yours was clobbered. go test ./pkg/render/... ./pkg/platform/... ./test/docspolicy/ passes at the head, and nscale-b200, nscale-gb300 and akamai-rtxpro6000 each render with the right detected-platform and detected-gpu-architecture annotations.
One documentation-only thought, left inline, about togetherai and forge on this particular page.
Also worth a follow-up rather than a change here: nothing pins either doc line, which is the same drift this PR exists to remove. A small test/docspolicy case asserting the --platform row equals platform.NamesList() and the arch row equals the set derived from pkg/render/nodes/ would stop the next platform constant from re-opening it. Want me to file that?

Thanks for verifying against the built binary. Keeping this PR scoped to the drift fix — noting the docspolicy test idea as a follow-up, no need to file an issue for it. |
Summary
nvcrectl workflow render --platform nscale --gpu-arch {b200,gb300}rejected nscale becauseLoadEmbeddedNodesbuilds its synthetic node from the embedded mocks underpkg/render/nodes/<platform>-<arch>.yamland no nscale mocks existed. This addsnscale-b200.yaml/nscale-gb300.yaml(carrying thenscale://providerID and the matchingnvidia.com/gpu.productlabel, mirroring the existing nscale fixtures) and derives the--platformhelp text fromplatform.NamesList()so it cannot drift again (it was missing togetherai, nscale, and akamai). The--gpu-archmock-templates hint gainsb200. Also adds the akamai mock node soworkflow render --platform akamaino longer fails withno mock nodes.Related Issue
