fix(sync): retry network errors and report unreachable sources - #783
DerekRoberts wants to merge 2 commits into
Conversation
A source that cannot be reached is now UNREACHABLE (exit bit 4), separate from drift (1) and check errors (2), so drift and unreachable sources are reported together. The drift job lists unreachable sources in its summary and fails after filing any drift issue. Refs #782
Code Review Roast 🔥Verdict: No Issues Found | Recommendation: Merge Oh wait, this PR is actually clean. I need to sit down. I had my flamethrower warmed up and everything. 📊 Overall: Like finding a unicorn in production — the bitmask actually mashes bits together now (drift + error = 3, the full house = 7), the alert body splits UNREACHABLE from ERROR like a responsible bouncer, and the workflow validates JSON before trusting it. I didn't think clean PRs existed anymore, but here we are. Files Reviewed (3 files)

🟡 Changes recommended
Mixed drift and check-error outcomes lose the error bit, allowing the workflow to pass despite failed checks.

What changed in this PR
This PR addresses #782 by making unreachable document sources visible in scheduled drift checks without hiding detected drift.
Changes:
- Adds network retries and a separate
UNREACHABLEoutcome. - Adds workflow summaries, annotations, and deferred failure handling.
- Adds tests for retries and combined exit statuses.

Extend the exit-code test with mixed drift/error cases, including an unreachable

Drift plus a check error is now 3 instead of 1. The drift issue body lists check errors apart from unreachable sources, and the workflow stops when the drift report is missing or invalid. Refs #782

The weekly drift check fails as an unnamed "operational error" when an upstream source cannot be reached, and real drift hides that failure.
