Computer Science student at FIU graduating in December 2026, focused on backend engineering, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure. I enjoy building end-to-end software, contributing to open source, and learning how systems behave under load and failure. Currently seeking new-grad software engineering opportunities.

⬡ CloudDrive — Deployed Cloud Storage Platform
A cloud storage platform deployed at clouddrive.world, built with FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and AWS. Designed for secure file sharing, direct-to-storage uploads, and event-driven image processing.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Stack | Python · FastAPI · PostgreSQL · AWS S3 · AWS Lambda · Docker |
| Auth & Access | JWT authentication · password hashing · role-based file/folder permissions |
| Architecture | S3 presigned uploads · S3-triggered Lambda image processing |
| Performance | 4.4× faster image processing (6.22s → 1.40s) after Lambda memory tuning, with roughly flat estimated compute cost |
| Quality | 84% test coverage · Pytest · PostgreSQL-backed CI tests |
| Deployment | AWS EC2 · Application Load Balancer · GitHub Actions CI/CD |
| Live | clouddrive.world |
| Repository | github.com/Mauricio0129/CloudDrive |
Engineering note: File transfers go directly to S3 via presigned URLs rather than through the API server. S3 events invoke Lambda to validate uploaded image types and generate thumbnails without blocking the upload request.
⬡ Layer 7 Load Balancer — Concurrent Reverse Proxy in Go
A Layer 7 HTTP reverse proxy written in Go to explore request routing, concurrent access to backend state, health checks, and graceful failure handling.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Stack | Go · net/http · sync/atomic · goroutines |
| Local Benchmark | ~79,000 req/sec over 50,000 requests with 500 concurrent clients and three backend servers |
| Concurrency | Lock-free reads of routing state through atomic snapshot swaps |
| Reliability | Active health checks · automatic backend failover |
| Traffic Handling | Timed request admission · adaptive timeouts for slow or stalled clients |
| Routing | Host-based routing · round-robin · health-aware backend selection |
| Repository | github.com/Mauricio0129/load-balancer |
Engineering note: The request-forwarding path reads a snapshot of healthy backends without acquiring a routing mutex. Health checks refresh the state, while admission control and adaptive deadlines help the proxy respond predictably to bursts and slow clients. The throughput figure comes from a local benchmark, not production traffic.
