MAPCO-11282 — move off the alpha branch onto the official v8.3.0 release. Was ^8.3.0-alpha.2; npm dist-tags now has 8.3.0 as latest. Tests: 26 files / 234 tests passing both before and after the bump (baseline captured on origin/master first to rule out pre-existing failures).
