JOSS reviewers ask for a CITATION.cff, and this repository does not have one yet.

Generated from the author list in origin/joss-paper:paper.md: 4 author(s), with given and family names taken from each author's ORCID record rather than split from the display name, because compound surnames do not split reliably.

license is MIT, read from the LICENSE file. version is 0.11.8, the newest release tag.

Verified with cffconvert --validate: valid against schema 1.2.0.

Thanks for this PR.
Redirecting to the joss-paper branch, which is also where the paper sits (which might be merged into main at some point)

We might want to opt for a different CITATION.cff, especially because there is already a CITATION.bib on main linking to the initial publication in the Journal of Instrumentation for version 0.5.
We probably might want to update the CITATION.bib to CITATION.cff first (I can take care of that), and then update the references once we hear back from JOSS about their decision.
I will keep you updated.
